At the risk of giving the impression that I play favorites, I have to say that this story is one of the funniest things I've read in this site in a long time. A satire of the publish industry, it builds crazily, culminating in a final sentence that cracked me up for several minutes. I'd love to hear what you people have to hear about this one, 'cause I think it's gold.

Not that we don't post wonderful stories on this site each and every day. This one caught my eye because it's...unusual. On another note, what do you guys and gals think of having a section on the site devoted to humor & satire? Let me know.

I actually read it before you posted, Laurel. I liked it very much. Very nicely written. I like how she made the inner logic of the piece work, as if being asked to strip in a waiting room was odd, but not so odd that it doesn't happen. Nice work.

Too fucking funny!!

Damn! You mean .....??!! FUCK! I thought .... I'm gonna get my plane ticket for NY tomorrow & go for it over the weekend.

An absolutely wonderful story. Indiana people have this great ability to bury a really good joke beneath a serious exterior. Exhibit number one being Dan Quayle.

Damn!

Nurse, edit your post! I read the reviews here before reading the story. <pouts> I wasn't completely sure that your post truly gave away the ending that Laurel crowed about, but well... Anyway, fix it, please, so other readers can enjoy the full impact of the ending. It's great.

Kerrie, what a terrific story! For once I wasn't bothered by the fact that the story's main character just happened to have the same name as the author.

There were several parts that I thought were particularly clever. I can't recall them specifically right now. Really, the whole thing was wonderful. I thought the summary of the senior editorial staff scene was great. Much better than a play by play, which is what I expected. I love being surprised.

By the way I too HATE the trendy celebrity-turned author books. (Jamie Lee Curtis has two children's books out now. Cheryl Ladd has one or two and Michael Bolton also, same genre. Children's fiction.) WTF? These people don't have enough attention through their acting, singing, whatever?

Great job, Kerrie. Worth the wait! <winks>

Hahahahahahahahahahahaha

This is excellent, Kerrie - surreal, dark, dirty and very funny. It's like an erotic Theatre of the Absurd play.

BTW - Don Van Vliet sends his love and a bag of Big Eyed Beans.

Laurel - I like your idea for the humour / satire category.

<winks at nurse> Now if I could just forget what someone told me about the ending of "A Perfect Storm!" <wails>

Bat Chain Puller...

Nothing to do with me, Kerrie - must be that Old Fart at Play. I believe he's inside "breathing freely from his perfume bottle atomizer air-bulb invention".

You do realise people are going to hate us for this?

Yes! A humor and satire section would be very welcome!

I thought it was pretty damn humorous my self, and Laurel is right. A humor/Satire section would be pretty good.

Well then, lick my decals off, baby!

I certainly don't hate you two for bringing up the Captain! Cool beans--big-eyed...

How did this little gem get by me? I just read "Ice Cream Tragedy" (I love it when people post links) and thought it was great! Kerrie, you have a writing style that sets your stories apart from the crowd. I have to say that your "Big Apple" story was excellent also.
