Get yourself some rubber gloves, a knife and a jalapeno or two. Put on the rubber gloves, slit a jalapeno lengthwise and then run the cord through the jalapeno. Do this about once a week. Don't worry about burning the kitten's mouth; the smell is enough to keep them from trying to chew on it.

Good idea.

I lived with a cat for a while who developed a hole in his lip. Eventually we moved the coutch, found the cord with the burn marks, and put 2 + 2 together.

Ouch. Poor kitty!:(

We firgured this one out a few years ago when we had a kitten who just wouldn't leave the cords alone. I thought him getting his little mouth burned was better than death by electrocution. But he wouldn't touch the cords after he caught a whiff of the jalapeno. We've had a bunch of kittens since then and none of them will chew on the cords when they smell that. So I'm confident that very few will have that problem.

But doesn't your house end up smelling like Sunday Special night at El Burrito Loco?

Lol! Hard to tell, it so often does anyway. We're lovers of spicy foods. :D

Maybe I should have put jalapeno juice on the blind cords. (One of my cats ate about 4 feet of blind cord a few months back, and had to have it surgically removed, and I'm still paying for that).
