I was just thinking about masochism.
a sexual perversion characterized by pleasure in being subjected to pain or humiliation especially by a love object.
pleasure in being abused or dominated : a taste for suffering.
That is Merriam Websters definition of masochism.
so what i was wondering was does it go further then that? I mean is that definition accurate or is there more to a masochist then that?
I love ouchies, but i also like the marks it leaves. Is that masochism or a fetish?
I like to be in my dark place where the world is black and cold...sorta like mental subspace. Is that suffering or actually pleasure?
Is masochism only the definition above and everything else a fetish stemming from it or does it have a much broader meaning?
I do think dictionary descriptions are limited in what they can explain though, and those elements such as bruises I guess become subjective as to whether they are looked at as a noun, verb, or adjective and by whom. Bottom line, I am a masochist and love it so let them try and explain it however they want, I know what it is to us.
