I just saw Kamala Harris's grilling of Amy Coney Barrett, and it was brutal. When you see Kamala destroy an opponent like that it makes her selection as Biden's VP a no brainer. While she was taking ACB apart, she was also speaking to the American people about what is a stake in the upcoming election, and the potential damage ACB could do to the country once she is seated. Flawless execution.

Russia, China, etc, had better hope that she doesn't become President, because she doesn't play games.

That was my point.

Kamala wasn't there to play games. She knows that ACB being seated is a foregone conclusion. She used her time to let ACB know how serious people take issues like Roe and the ACA. The look on ACB's face when Kamala laid out the facts was priceless. The fact that Kanala was using her as a campaign issue and not giving her any respect as a legitimate nomination was not lost on ACB. She looked like she had been called to the principles office for cheating on a test.

She should enjoy her brief time in the majority on the surpreme court.

The questions Senator Amy Klobuchar asked ACB concerning voter intimidate was not hypothetical. It's US law. ACB's answer was she could not answer a hypothetical question, but it's a reality that is happening right now in Alabama, Georgia and Texas.

ACB sat there like a scolded child when Kamala asked her if she would consider the welfare of the people who would be affected by ending the ACA without a viable replacement. When Kamala poimted out how RBG was willing to commit to a position on Roe v Wade during her own confirmation hearing in 1993, ACB slumped in her chair and pouted like a child.

ACB will never be RBG.

It's sad really. Most of you that have posted have no fucking clue as to the difference between a legislator and a judge. What Harris did was a Biden hatchet job. She knew that the judge couldn't and shouldn't answer the questions posed. It was just more grandstanding and campaigning instead of doing the work of the people.

Harris' job, along with every other Senator's in that room, is to assess ACB's impartiality. Not her views but her ability to be impartial irrespective of her views. In that the hearing is a complete failure.

It would be just a wrong to ask the same questions to a candidate that was an atheist lesbian supporter of Planned Parenthood.

If ACB had answered any of those questions, THAT would be legitimate grounds to not confirm her because she would have given an opinion on a case not yet before her and not even argued by the two sides. That would have been the acts of a bad judge.

Can't get what you want democratically? Just bypass democracy and get a judge to "rule" it into existence.

As noble as the intent of the law might be, it is the constitutionality of that law that I am obligated to address."

If it were me, I could not resist the the chance to admonish the Senator by adding, "Senator, if, hypothetically speaking, aspects of the ACA were to be considered unconstitutional, Congress remains free to draft and pass similar legislation to achieve whatever objective it wants as long as it can hold up to constitutional scrutiny."
