I work with a native born Chinese woman. She is pregnant for the 2nd time & said that unless she has a boy, she will have to keep having children until she gives her husband the son he wants. I told her she was fucked in the head. She lives in American now & she's college educated & should know that this is a bunch of bullshit. She said it's for the good of the family. I felt the need to kick her in the head.

I find it sad that even here in America so many people still think girls are inferior to boys. I've heard it so many times where woman say that boys are better than girls because they are easier to raise.

It sickens me to hear women disparage their own gender.

It's not exactly an anomaly. You should have seen the anti-suffragettes of the 19th century and anti-ERA women of the late 20th century.

Men and women alike have opposed equality over the ages.

Well, my grandparents spent decades traveling the world and spent a lot of time in India...when they came home, they told us stories of the unbelievable poverty, people living in what were basically tents in the dirt, filthy water, horrendous conditions, and yet they kept having kids.

mostly this tradition arises because so many of the children die before growing to adulthood

to insult a family for having kids seems to miss the point that there is more than enough resorces in society to feed (and educate) everyone, if it was spread out a little fairer.

the attitude 'stupid fuckers keep having kids' allows those with more to feel blame and anger to the less well off assaging guilt empathy and the promise of real social change.

If they'd only stop breeding everything would be OK?
