I tried it as a file and then I copy/pasted into the box. Both times it said that it was not propperly formatted.
Did I do something wrong?
How long will it take to show up?
Will I be notified?

can anyone tell me how long I have to wait to get my story up there? I not recieved any confirmation via email either.

Not exactly clear on what you mean. When you go to your author page:

http://www.literotica.com:81/members/main.php

You should see:

STORY TITLE | STORY DESCRIPTION
x.xx | 0 | 0 | CATEGORY | DATE | STATUS

What does it say in the "status" portion? It should either read pending, approved, or rejected.

I'm probably the last person to comment on the problems you had uploading your story as I'm a newbie to this, but it seems to me if you upload a file in .rtf or .doc format it says it can't decrypt it but it will be read, it's just the site software can't decode it straight away. If you covert the file to a .txt document it will upload into the text field without receiving the comment, and you can then make sure the format looks OK before you click submit. As for how long it takes, I think the site does say it takes a few days (longer if you submitted in .rtf or .doc format). But you can see if it's pending, accepted, or rejected in your submissions page just as Darkniciad suggests.....

Ahhh! I've always submitted in .txt format with html tags, so I've never seen that formatting message.

If you uploaded in .doc or some other format, then the submission page can't display the story in preview. It will be read by the moderators, and reformatted to post on the site, so long as it meets all Lit standards.

Keep an eye on your submission page ( linked in my first post ) and watch that "status" column. So long as it says pending, then the story is still either in queue, or in process.

Should a date appear in the date column, but the status still says "pending", then your story will appear on the site on that day, right at the stroke of midnight.

You only need to worry if you see "rejected" in the status column.

The standard posting time for quite a while was one week. Of late, that has dropped down to between 3-5 days for established authors. New authors quite frequently will see a day or two more. If you submitted in a format other than .txt, then it may take a day or two more, yet again.

(Illustrated/Audio can take even longer)

If you don't see any change within about two weeks of the date you submitted ( allowing for unusual circumstances ) then pop back in. We can probably point you in the right direction. I should imagine that the story will be reviewed before then, though.
