Ever considered that maybe it's too late for the contest? From the rules posted up: "You may begin submitting your entries on November 10. The last day to submit contest entries is December 7."

I'm sorry that your story was rejected.

Was it rejected outright, in which case some sort of reason is usually given, or just too late to be a contest entry?

If the latter, then I'm sorry again because you didn't follow the very simple instructions to make the story a contest entry. The instructions are given in the sticky at the top of the Authors' Hangout, are linked from the front page of Literotica, and I repeated them at the start of the Winter Holiday Support Thread.

If you couldn't follow those instructions you will have real difficulty getting any stories published because publishers have even more arcane rules than exist on Literotica.

Tens of thousands of authors manage to get their stories posted here. Sometimes a story gets rejected by the bots. It happens to almost all prolific authors at one time or another. All we do is rectify the problem or appeal the decision if it appears bizarre.

Per our contest rules, you must put the words " WINTER HOLIDAYS STORY CONTEST 2008" in the NOTES field. Since we search that field for contest submissions, not putting those words will delay the posting of your story. Also, per our contest rules, all submissions must be stand-alone stories created for this contest theme. We will not accept individual chapters of a larger work submitted separately. If you have a multi-chaptered contest-themed submission, please submit all chapters together as one story submission. Next time follow the rules. If you don't follow the rules you will have a hard time getting through life, let alone getting a story posted for a contest here.

Sorry your contest entry got rejected. But this is probably a very helpful experience for you in submitting to mainstream writing contests. They are very strict with following the guidelines to the letter on these and happily heave out anything that doesn't follow the guideliness--and most of the time won't even tell you your entry was discarded. And you'll never know you didn't have a chance from the get go.

In this case, you didn't follow the guidelines in at least two instances, so rather than railing at others, you'd be helping yourself if you took where you went wrong on board.

I also had a rejection today - - - and it was my very first story at this site. But I understood the reasons (too much humiliation of the main character), and don't resent the rejection. I'll simply take it as a learning experience.

Why get upset about it? There are sites where you can get anything accepted, if it's that important to you.....

Tough choice. They're all yummy, but you know how much I love peanuts.

I think my waste can handle me licking some nuts, but maybe I should exercise later, just in case, to preserve my girlish figure.

On this particular point, I rather agree with you (but not with the way you posted it). I see no good reason why a poster who has no (or just one or two) stories contributed to Literotica should be in this discussion at all (or taking off on how many of your stories have run hot).
