Not that i need to see a high rank or anything, but with so few votes (11) it was easy to figure out that last reader gave me '1' (was at 4.9 now at 4.55)

hmm...

so tell me, was mine worth a 1?

-blah-

so unpretty

This question comes up quite constantly. The real question is? If you enjoy it, and if most enjoy it? Do you give a fuck what anonymous votes or says?

Why look for affirmation? :D

Really? Oh, I don't think so. It's been hours since anyone mentioned 1 votes. lol

Hey, J Boy, you're doing pretty well if you got 11 votes. The majority of mine have less than that. And don't take the 1 personally. I read part of your poem this morning, but didn't get a chance to finish or vote. I'll go do that now.

Jersey this is a problem that has been a topic of discussion many times and seems to be that your rating reduction is actually following a pattern. Submit more poetry and enjoy others poems, share words and not tag a number to them is my friendly advice. Write for the enjoyment, not the score and you'll feel better about your work. Just my nickle <more than two cents>

I think you're looking at it the wrong way, JB. I'm not going to tell you that votes don't matter, that trolls are this or that. That's all meaningless.

The question you should ask yourself is: when you look at your poem, do you truly in your heart believe that on a "quality" scale of 1.0 to 5.0, it should be closer to 4.90 than to 4.55? On a scale of 1.0 to 5.0? If you do believe that, then - well, it shouldn't matter what the score is. You know it's touching perfection. If you don't, then rest assured: 4.55 on a scale of 1.0 to 5.0 is a very high score.

I agree with Lauren ~ 4.55 is a very good score!

You can't worry about the trolls and you can't stop them either, they do what they do no matter how good your poem is or isn't.

Feedback is the most important thing, it helps you learn and grow and expand your writing. Votes are meaningless, feedback is invaluable.

Keep writing... :rose:

It's not a 1 poem imo. I don't give ones, but then I hardly ever vote. I'd give you a 5 cause you're from New Jersey though which just goes to show you how arbitrary all this is. :)

lol

actually i have no idea what a '1' poem would be? Could there be a '1' poem?

remember this old gem?
Fleas
Adam
had 'em

i think this is more of a poem that perhaps only a few can relate to
mainly self hatred
its very difficult to watch someone do that to themselves

I used to score student writing samples on a six-point scale, with one being the lowest score. I gave ones to essays that were incoherent because word usage was totally confused and the writing so riddled with errors I couldn't make any sense of what the person was trying to say.

I guess some poems here fit that category, but unlike my old job no one here is paying me to score writing so I mostly keep my big yap shut. :D

You hardly vote? :( Well that explains why I want your attention. lol ;)

It's probably people like Trolly. He seems to have done me since I've been away. Not that I mind. It just shows what a prat he is. Of course Trolly could be anyone but that is the nature of small petty minds.

But what happens when you have a poem that has been at 4.82 and then all of a sudden just as the month ends there are 4 - 1 bombs?

I have been tracking my one poem and in June and July at precisely voting time, I was bombed. Brought the 4.82 to a 4.50. Today, guess what the score is? I am guessing that on 8/29 it will be back to 4.50.

In fact, 13 of my 14 poems were hit at the end of each month - each score hitting 4.50 or below and now today are were they used to be.

It's not the fact that affirmation is needed, the fact is that there is someone out there who needs affirmation of THEIR own poetry to 1-bomb other poets, just so their poem is top listed.

Mismused has had thoughts of funny business at Lit for over two years. If there was any base for her complaints, one can only guess that Laurel would have addressed them by now. ;)
