Just curious, how common is this?

Before starting to write erotica I admit to hardly having read any of it. Even now after three years on the site I might read a half dozen stories a month and tend to linger on foot fetish or group stories as well as some brother sister stuff.

So despite being here I don't have a great grasp of what is out there. I recently recieved e-mails from two different people, one from lit and one from my website saying that my mixing of incest with BDSM themes is not common and wondering if that's true or not?

I know SWB was not highly viewed due to the BDSM style rough sex(I got many unflattering remarks on it) amongst some other dark material.

I also have a father/daughter story here Bound for my daddy(it should be self explanatory) and another one Daddy likes it rough during which the daughter is cuffed and the sex is rough (consensual however)

In the paid market I have "punishing my slutty step mother" which is pretty rough revenge style sex and also just released Mom is bound to Please which is more of a teasing style of bondage.

I'm curious if there are a lot of stories here similar to that and if there are can I get the author or title?

I know I can try to search it out, but suck at it. Plus if people know the story off the tops of their heads it most likely means it is a well done story.

Before anyone comes along and says it I am not linking my stories because this is not an attempt to get anyone to read or buy anything of mine. I'm simply looking for similar works

I'm also looking for what people's take is on mixing incest with BDSM/Bondage fetishes. It seems the people who like it absolutely love it, but I've gotten many "detractors" on it.

One thing to note is the rough daddy stories seem to go over a lot better than rough mother stories.

I'm not an expert, but FWIW, writing multiple themes/categories in one story, is a lot to handle for readers. Most readers like one or two themes, but when another theme is added that the reader doesn't like, it's hard to take. I'm sure others with more knowledge will comment though. I'm coming at this from a reader and editorial perspective since I haven't written much.

I think part of the problem here is that the site design isn't very friendly to multi-theme stories. If I'm writing about a mildly-BDSM-ish romance between two women, or a horror story with lesbian elements, I have to pick just one of those themes and categorise accordingly. Readers who want those combinations pretty much have to guess the top-level category and then sift through it looking for the mix they're after. You can try searching by tags, but that's a lot more work and you still have to guess how the stories have been tagged.

I would agree about the multiple themes in one story - it's not that it doesn't go down well as such, it just makes it more niche. I write bdsm and mainly quite hardcore bdsm at that (according to commenters! I didn't think it was that out there). That makes my readership smaller I think because it only appeals to some people, not everyone. I personally don't read any incest/taboo and I tend to click back if a bdsm story has a Daddy/little dynamic. I guess I just like what I like and don't like things mixing. I would say tagging would allow people to find your stories who really want those genres together - otherwise an authors note to stop people reading it if they don't want that content and to encourage those who do?

I don't know of any stories which combine the two sorry. Hopefully someone can help on that part!

I'm still a pretty new writer here (9 stories) and just wrote my first BDSM story with the understanding that while Incest readers may accept a little light BDSM, readers of BDSM for the most part want no Incest anywhere near their stories.

For this reason (with the understanding that BDSM in general is supposed to take people out of their comfort zone) I wrote a story about a father who takes his daughter as a slave, but wrote it knowing I wanted it in the BDSM category. The story would have been very different if I wanted it posted in Incest.

I'll check it out!

It has a good score for being incest placed in BDSM.

Then again there is a faction of BDSM that goes along with "daddy" type themes. Many women see their master as a form of daddy figure.

Mother/son is not as well received in that respect.

As I noted a rough daddy/daughter encounter is accepted over a rough mother/son or even brother/sister.

I put mine all in incest because although the sex was rough with bondage themes I didn't go with the mental aspects of BDSM or total control or slavery.

I have written mainly in the LW category, but then ventured into incest. I also tried my hand at BDSM. I don't think I did to bad of a job, but I know it wasn't great.

Just recently I tried again. In my latest novella Yesterday's Dream, I have the main male protag get rid of a girlfriend with some B&D and a little S&M. He thought she would up and leave because of what he did, but in the end she liked it and he had to kick her to the curb.

The stories is a sci-fi time travel story with incest and normal relationships, there is group sex...is a threesome really group sex?...and lesbian sex. There is even interracial sex. So in book, I have the big three. Incest, group and interracial.

I am not a big fan of mixing various themes like Incest, BDSM, group sex. I guess those stories are less in number as compared regular themes.

You will see many regular readers complaining to AW2 for ending incest story with threesome,

That's where I draw the line, How can an Author experiment when he's expected to write exact same pattern again & again? And there is definately an audience who likes those themes mixed.

I haven't read this story due to BDSM theme, but this 9 chapter story have some scores like 4.83,4.8

First chapter is in BDSM category while rest of 8 are in incest category-

Some stories containing both themes-

Note- I don't think it's very common, but maybe my knowledge in the subject is very minimum to draw any conclusion.

I recently tried an experiment and wrote a stroke incest story.

Understand all my other incest work is story driven and I try to justify the taboo attraction and I usually have a strong emotional attraction as well as sexual

this time I just went pure "why not?" and wrote a story where a mother and father fantasized about bringing in another man, but they didn;t know how to go about it and were worried about diseases and the mother had a professional job....

they discover their son is watching their home sex videos and decide to make him the second man in an incest threesome.

It scored okay, but I did get comments from people unhappy I went off my usual path and some who said "not your usual standard"

So yes people do seem to want the same meal over and over.

I was surprised to see several comments saying next time to have some father son action. I wasn't aware that was that popular.

It does seem as though stories with elements that could justify their placement in other categories tend to generate angry comments and low scores, especially BDSM, Trans, or Incest. Acknowledgement intro warnings can partially mitigate backlash if multiple themes are used.

Still, I don't think the categorization itself is the issue. For example, Anal or Exhibitionist can go nearly anywhere without complaint. There's a fairly decent How To essay-form flowchart that discusses it. Maybe case-by-case permission to dual post in relevant categories would help?

I've seen sites with pairings listed immediately following the story description to warn readers who might harbor a strong distaste/predilection for a particular kink (MM, FF, MF, M+F, BDSM, Inc, etc.), but that creates spoilers?

I've experimented with several kinks in my "Ghost in the Machine" series. It's mostly a plot-driven series, and I've seen mixed reactions to the topics covered, even with fair warning in the intro. So far, my readership has been generally kind (all my stories still have the red "H" next to them), but "Ghost 3", with a group scene containing implied gay male sex has gotten noticeably worse scores than "Ghost 7", which features another group scene, this time a rather tame FFM version. My best-rated chapters are 9 and 10, which feature simple MF couplings. No clue what my readers are looking for im my stories, since I didn't get too much in the way of written feedback (apart from the usual "gimme more" comments :))

I have yet to try a "standard" themed story, though. For me it's more important why or where people do it than how they do, so I don't particularly care for kink satisfaction.

I think this is the real issue. And how it's impossible to see the tags before reading a story (if anyone knows how, I'd like to know - I only see a use for tags when searching for stories - and looking at the "tag cloud" many tags are useless for that, too).

There are simply stories that fit in more than one category, that's discussed here so often. Just look at all the "which category does this go?" type of threads. It's something that could really do with improvement. Ditch the categories, switch to only tags (including one or more category-type tags an author can add to the story). Allow stories to be in more than one category. And most of all, list out tags with the story.

That failing, the most appropriate thing to do from an author pov is to add an "author's note" at the start of the story. For any future submissions I intend to do this, adding a short synopsis of the story, and a note on erotic content, or lack thereof. And notes on crossing into other themes, if any.
