just been to a gay bar for the first time

after work this evening i was asked out with my 2 gay bosses to enjoy a few nights in the local gay bar.

i went and enjoyed myself considerably, getting to know my bosses and their friends and other collegues.

i was chatted up and had passes at me several times in the evening and i managed to shake them off ( i now know what straight women go through week in week out)

what i came to thinking was "what do gay men go for in a man"

is it the same as what a women looks for "tall,dark,hansome,muscular" or is it something different. as i am none of the before mentioned.

or is it something entirely different

The gay bars around here are actually cool places to hang out on hetero dates if you hit them before the X crowd gets there later in the evening. As a gay friend says, "They're on Gay Standard Time." As opposed to the "regular" bars, the cigarette smoke usually isn't quite as bad with the early crowd, and the people seem a little nicer.

I'm not one for dancing in crowds of people, but the DJs usually rock, too. One safe stereotype is that gay men in large groups won't put up with bad dance music (show tunes, on the other hand...).

As for what a gay man goes for in a man - people are people; the answer is going to be just as varied as what women go for. It can be any mix of traits or body types - just depends on the person doing the looking.

I just got through spending the weekend as a house guest of a married gay couple. I had no preconcieved notions about what it would be like but I was suprized to discover two common gay male stereotypes that were alive and well.

1) The entire house was immaculately kept.

2) The CD rack contained nothing but show tunes!

I have gone to gay clubs for years..I find the conditions there to be most refeshing.

The music is MUCH better than anywhere else and I feel more able to relax and enjoy myself, so much in fact that I have not been to a non-gay establishment in some time.

When I lived in Missouri, I lived in the biggest college town in the state (not big population-wise though).

We had a couple of pretty cool gay bars with a heavy straight influence. One of the gay bars eventually got taken over by the straight crowd and was shut down. It was quite interesting.
