This is the OOC for a thread inspired by the massive amounts of samurai movies I've been watching lately. It's going to be heavily inspired by Zatoichi, as my character will be a blind swordsman. Kuu will be playing a mute geisha. We're looking for about three more people, to make a good odd number to prevent pairing off :)

It's a typical samurai story, evil Daimyo is terrifying the countryside, his band raping and pillaging and being just generally nasty. Each character has something connecting them to this Daimyo, whether it is a wish for vengeance against him, a life lived in fear of him, or a bond of servitude to him.

Cast so far:
Gagonthis - Tashi Kakitshi
Kuuroinochou - Sakaki
FenixZero - Nara Kurohasu
Katamari Roller - Asane Mori
Dynosius - Shenduri
Hikari - ????

DONE! FINISHED! KAPUTZ!

Name: Tashi Kakitshi
Age: 30
Height: 5’8
Weight: 160 lbs.
Eyes: non-existent – wears a red silk scarf where his eyes used to be
Hair: Black hair down to his shoulders, his bangs hang to the middle of his eyes

Background: Tashi was a promising young samurai vassal under the Daimyo. By the age of 18 he was the Daimyo’s fiercest warrior, blessed with the fighting skill of ten normal warriors. He was on track to succeed the Daimyo, as the man had no heirs. But the Daimyo betrayed him, and twenty men attacked him outside a teahouse. They blinded him and he plunged off a cliff to escape them. Believing him dead they returned to their master to report their success. But Tashi was not dead. He survived the fall, battered and broken. He was taken in by a kindly old man who helped him heal. Depressed with his lack of sight Tashi tried to kill himself, but was prevented by the old man who assured him he would just be letting the Daimyo win if he did. Tashi began his new life as a blind man living with the old man, working in the fields and learning to sense the world through smell, touch and sound.
One fateful day the Daimyo sent men to collect tribute from the old man. The men, recognizing Tashi attempted to kill him. Only to be single handedly killed by the old man. Tashi was shocked to learn the mild mannered elder he had been living with was a master swordsman. He began training with the elder, learning to use all of his senses to sense the movements of an opponent. Soon he began to see his sight was merely a weakness, a weakness that could be exploited. Ten long years later Tashi laid his master to rest, old age finally having taken the man. Now he takes up his sword, to take his revenge on the man who wronged him.

Name: Sakaki
Age: 23
Hgt: 5ft 8inc
Wgt: 120lbs
Occupation: Mute Geisha
History: Sakaki was an average girl living her life happily and peacefully. In a small fishing town she was nothing more than a fisherman's daughter. The youngests of three kids, her older brother, sister and then herself. Often going with her father and brother on fishing trips, Sakaki was always a cheerful bright young girl. Surprisingly enough she wasn't always mute and had a beautiful voice that the villages cherished as gold.

It wasn't until the Daimyo's men came into town on suspision of enemy spies. Wrongfully accused her father was murdered in cold blood. Seeing this she watched her brother lose his life in rage over their father's death just before she was hidden away by her sister with instructions "don't say a word." After that command alone, Sakaki never spoke again, watching one by one as the men raped her sister and mother killing them shortly after they finished their deed.

She was later found by one of Daimyo's men and had been sentenced to follow her family in death but the Daimyo had made a personal appearance to her village finding Sakaki's beauty to be quite fetching. As such he took her back with him to live with his courtesians as they raised her to become a beautiful geisha.

The road was a long one considering Sakaki never spoke a word to anyone from that day her family had been taken from her. No amount of beatings, no amount of threats nothing seemed to bring her out of her silent shell. The Daimyo had made it appoint to get the girl to speak and often called her to his private home, there she vowed to take his life and tried only to fail. Immediately she was thrown out and would have been killed if not for her reputation as a geisha. It would seem despite her inability to speak, she brought in a lot of money through her art, music and dance. People from afar came to see her work and paid quite a bit to book her time... as such the Daimyo decided he'd not kill her but he never requested for her again, taking what money she gained out of the house to compensate for her ways.

As such she's worked hard to gain his favors once more in hopes of being in his presence long enough to take his life no matter if her own were taken in the process.

Ohhh I'm this like stink on rice! We've already got one bad-ass samurai on this thread which means we need his rival right?

Name: Nara Kurohasu
Age:27
Ht:5'7"
Wt.155lbs
Eyes:Black
Hair:Black
Kurohasu is known throught the northern regions as the Black Lotus. A wandering vagabond by nature, Kurohasu has spent his life traveling the country to perfect his Iwanami Iaido style of swordsmanship. Frustrated by the lack of competition in his dojo, Kurohasu abandoned the life of the student and began to walk the earth in hopes of learning the true nature of life and death.
(Theres alot more to his character but I prefer to reveal that IC. Hope I get in on this thread...looks like much fun!)

Well this thread sounds intresting but I was wondering what the perimeters of the thread are, such as is it just based in Fuederal Japan and you can be anything or do you have to be just a samurai?

I'm used to playing disabled characters so I got this...hehe. It will be hard the first time playing a mute though.

And its based in fuedal japan so you can play anyone yes... and we need one more person Dyn so if you want to join go ahead and take up the spot...

just throw your information up.

Thanks, below is the profile.

Name: Shenduri
Age: 21
Height: 5'7
Weight: 140 lbs.

History: As the son of a rice farmer, Shenduri (or Shen for short) had to work hard on the fields. It was only he and his father that had to work though. They were too poor to hire any helpers, and Shen's mother had died of an infected leg wound. Yet, life was simple and easy.

Such a life was not meant to last long. At the age of 18, Shenduri and his father were raided by the Daimyo's warriors. They were believed to be spies of China. In the attack Shen's father was killed in a brutal and ruthless manner.

In the aftermath of the raid, Shen renounced the Daimyo and swore a life against him. He picked up his father's gear and started life anew. He lived off the stuff he stole from others, hunted from the Daimyo's hunting grounds, or foraged from the trees of the Daimyo. All he had to do, was to stay out of the hands of the Daimyo's warriors. And that was quite easy. In short, Shenduri is now a Ronin, a bandit, and a thief.

Weapon: Wakizashi

Cool I like it, when Dissy gets back he'll set up the thread.. or hell I might. *shrugs*

Name: Akane Mori (AKA "Moon's Challenge")
Age: 26
Hgt: 6ft 1inc
Wgt: 185lbs
Occupation: Swordswoman for hire
Weapons: Nodachi

History: Formerly a member of the upper classes, Akane was to be the lesser among her siblings, the only female from four. She was educated in the finer arts of her household, and taught more to socialize than to fight.

However, that all changed in the course of five years. The peasants of her father's lands, led in an uprising by foreigners from other regions, killed all her brothers in battle and murdered their lord in cold blood, only to exhibit his body ignominiously as if he had been a bad ruler, which Akane knew to be false. Somehow, the foreigners had tricked the populace into believing her father was a greedy fool and a monster. In the following years, Akane had to fend for herself in roads and cities, stealing or begging to have a more or less full stomach. This time of her life was bitter, but the most useful to her. Akane was hardened the way only those who go through severe hardships can be.

Years after her wandering began, she met a starved ronin in a road. Seeing a fellow member of her class in such a deplorable state, Akane fought to help him, stealing food for him to recover his strength. Eventually, the swordsman told her to stop. He had never been starved, he had been looking for a student, not a helper. And he decided Akane was the best student he could have. Akane spent the next half of her life training incredibly hard to meet the aging man's expectations, but this attracted unwanted attention...

Her master was actually a famous fighter who had sown terror in the battlefield for decades, and many were those who wanted to be trained by him. But the master taking a woman under his wing was unbearable humiliation for them, and challenged him to go fight them at a bridge near Edo. But the master sent Akane. That night, under the full moon, the challengers berated Akane for the dishonor she had brought to them. Akane dismissed them as childish, and challenged them back. Twenty swordsmen charged at her from each side of the bridge. None of them woke up next morning, their lives cut by Akane's Nodachi like wheat cut by a sickle. A group of travelling artists came upon the scene, and inmortalised Akane in a small play of theirs they called "The Moon's Challenge", in which Akane was supposedly an incarnation of Tsuki-Yomi (the Moon God/Goddess) punishing swordsmen for their reckless behaviour (thus making Akane's story some kind of fable). Those who noticed the resemblance between her and the 'actress' portraying the Moon god started calling her for the play's name.

Akane's sword, though, was heavily dented after the fight, and so she took the katanas of her defeated opponents to a nearby swordsmith, who took pieces from each sword and forged them all into the Nodachi she uses, and which she calls "Wounding Light".

From that point on, her master told Akane she should leave, and go on her own path. After one last night of drinking, Akane left her master's hut a new woman who could take care of herself both in hiding and in the open. Her fame spread as much as that of the artists who rememorated her fight, which had become a popular play among the peasants. Soon, Akane found jobs as a mercenary here and there, in skirmishes in dark nights or on sun-bathed battlefields.

For two years she wandered through Japan, until at last she found a job to settle in, protecting a lord whose people did not appreciate his work enough. Akane, biased against commoners because of her past, decided to work as his bodyguard...

Yeah I'm cool with another, just don't want it to get too big as it tends to get pretty fragmented... so I'm closing it down after Hikari!

As for IC, I've been pretty busy these past couple of days... i.e. late night gig at a club followed by almost a full day recovering from said drinking that night...

But I shall be around tomorrow and shall do my damnedest to set up at IC thread.

So there's six people on here.. but I've only heard from 3...

Katamari?
Dynosius?
Hikari?

The ol' switcheroo.

Kinomi
Age: 22
Occupation: Thief

Kinomi's life revolved around her brother. Jiro meant everything to her, being the only family she had left after the fire that destroyed their family home. Jiro dreamed of becoming a great samurai, promising to defend his sister and earn the glory his family deserved...
But his dreams led to arrogance. He gave her some training on how to defend herself, saying she didn't need more than what he gave since she had him to protect her. His words frightened Kinomi some times, saying that he would challenge the greatest warrior he could find, to prove his worth. She didn't think he would truly do it...
Her brother's challenge took nothing more than moments at the sword of the Daimyo. If she had only stayed quiet, he and his men never would have found her... but her weeping for her dead brother was enough to alert them of her hiding spot. Used, beaten and bleeding, they left her with her brother's head and sword.
Quite agile and flexible, Kinomi has turned to stealing to survive, though longs for revenge on the man who killed her beloved brother. She masks her pain for the loss of him through laughter; a mask that's easily broken.
