Hi y'all,
I justed started writing my own stories. The thing is I am no native english-speaker. I'm from Germany, so my only stories so far have been in german. Now I am planning on writing a story in English and I justed wanted to know, if anyone think that it might work. I consider myself good in English language even in describing erotic stuff (thnx to erotic chats, lol) but I don't know if it would be good. I'd appreciate replies, maybe from other people who tried this,
Thnx a lot and bye for now,
Snoopy

Hi! Many good writers here have English as their second language. If you are reasonably good at writing English, your post seems to insicate that you have an ok grasp of the laguage, I think you're going to do just fine. Just write for a while, and see what happens.

SnoopDog - Sehr gute Idee.

SnoopDog - Very good idea. I have written a small German story before, but my German is not brilliant (English is my first language), so it's not on Lit. You should write your English story. If you would like, I can help you with editing.

Good luck to you.

Anyone who can write a whole story in a language that is not their native tongue certainly has my respect. Good for you, Snoopdog!

And Earl, I'm impressed... German ist nicht easy! ;)

Hey, thnx for your replies.
Well I guess I should just try once or twice and see what happens. Though few people actually reply to your posted stories which makes me sad 'cause that what this should be about. So anyways, thnx for the advice and support, I may get back to you when I have finished it. Till then I'm keeping my fingers crossed,
Bye, Snoopy

I agree completely. Joseph Conrad was a Pole and didn't learn English until well into adulthood, and he wrote great, great stuff. Jack Kerouac grew up speaking French Canadian but learned English as a child.

If you can master the fine points of English, being bilingual definitely has advantages. Not only do you approach English with a different perspective, but you have the idioms and expressions of your other language to draw on.

Schreiben Sie die Geschichte auf Deutsch. Bitten Sie jemanden, die Geschichte ins Englisch zu übersetzen.
