Just a quick question

I'm waiting for the of the male writers to answer your question with a measurement in inches.

:D

I intentionally didn't specify inches or breast size in my only erotic story. That kind of stuff bores me. But I did base a lot of the male characters actions on my old behaviors and techniques. In my coming novel I based the main character on me with some very stark physical differences. Personality-wise he's really just a nicer version of me.

I think every character I have written has been an altered version of me, though.

Well, I'd say about 4.7" - no, make that 7.4.

In short stories, I don't get that close to my characters. That's not the case with my novels, which are character driven. You work with your character's for so long and come to "know" them in such depth, it's easy to get attached. At the end of my WIP, I had to kill two life-long friends of the protag. The actual death scene wasn't that tough. But their funerals just about laid me in the shade.

That must be what gals are talking about when they say I'm an old softie.

Some characters are dear to me, some not as much so. Depends on how much of me I put into them or how much of what I want in someone else :)

Pretty damn close. They are not me, but the main character, and many other characters too, tend to react and act like i would had done if I had been in their situation. I tend to identify with them quite a lot during the writing. And it's pretty much the same whoever the character is. Man, woman, in erotic or non-erotic context, doesn't matter. When I write them, "I" act the leading part.

I've met a great many real life characters in my life so I'm not attached to any thing more than making them what they are in my stories, novels, what have you. Good, bad, or ugly they are people just the same. It's what motivates us to be the way that we are that I try to focus on in my non-erotic work, and to some degree in my erotic works as well.

Not very ... most of them are either pretty nasty people, or else I'm pretty mean to them, or both ;)

My characters are me. My fantasies. Woo... just wait until I get into kinkier stuff XD

However, with nonerotic work I create characters who I love and abuse constantly, give them happiness, take it away. Like a monarch or somefink.

The longer I work on a character, the closer I get. Often I begin by seeing things in people to use in a character and then when the character begins to develop I see the character in people, as if the character were real.

I've never had any trouble letting a character go although there is one guy I really like who is a basically honest little fellow caught in the web of living around gangsters and who would be much better in a story were he a little more dishonest and slimy. I just can't seem to do it to him though so I have never used him.

I got quite worried by discovering that the main character in my first published novel matched a well-known and well-liked authoress on Lit down to the last detail, and I wrote that before Lit started!

I am very fond of one of my characters, mostly because he is the main character in eight of my books and I love the money I get for him.

It really does depend! There tends to be an element of me in any woman character I write, some infact are me or damn close anyway! So the men I write tend to be men I'd go for in real like too...I tihnk my characters are close to my heart whilst i'm writing at least!
