Deviance can be relative to place and time because what is considered deviant in one social context may be non-deviant in another (e.g., fighting during a hockey game vs. fighting in a nursing home). Killing another human is considered wrong, except when governments permit it during warfare or for self defense.
Not eating with the left hand and just using it to wipe your bottom makes sense in a medieval society with limited access to soap and hot water. Trichinosis from pork can be deadly. Congenital health defects due to close interbreeding would have manifested themselves very early on in small tribal or clan societies. Patricide leads to removal of family head and anarchy and conflict. It also removes a vast store of knowledge when all you have to go by is oral histories.
What we now know as scientific theory was attributed to gods, demons and evil spirits at one time.

It's very subjective and what is taboo depends upon the specific culture.
The best way to determine if something is taboo is to start a thread on the GB something like,
'I want to (insert name of action here) to my (insert name of family member, pet, or inanimate object). Anybody else into that?
