i mean, look at us (especially me, recently) and how we act regarding Star Wars.

is it healthy for people to be so captivated and immersed in a fictional universe to the point where we have heated discussions via computer about it?

though, it COULD be worse. we could be into Star Trek this much, making our discussions boil down to a fight between who's the better captain, Kirk, Picard, Janeway, Sisko, or Dr. Sam Becket.

Some how, I have this feeling that this is a can of worms that should not have been opened. . .

Who?

I love Star Wars - I still swear that every lesson I ever needed to learn in life I got from Episodes IV through VI.

I don't believe it, it can't be done.

That is why you fail

I would agree...he was the most versatile of all the captains...he was like the Phil Jackson of Starship enterprise captains...Riker is nothing without him....

He is the Master isn't he?

I love: "Do or do not. There is no try" as in in your signature.

I might just tape that on my son's computer screen. Hell, I should do that from myself also.

You think you guys are dorks? dig this...

I was taking a nap today and I had just woken up but I was still in that half sleep half awake stage when I had a vision of Episode III, here goes:

The Origin of the Jedi and the Sith

It should take place in a time period that resembles earth's renaissance; a kingdom ruled by an evil ruler. The king is a foul man and has no wife to produce an heir to the throne so the king takes on two 'apprentices' of the same age, one a goodly kid the other a bit more sinister. As the boys grow they challenge each other as boys will do but are the best of friends until they become young adults. It is getting close to the time when an heir should be chosen and the competitive nature begins to take over. The boys become bitter towards each other, one hoping to follow in the foul king's foot steps and one hoping to replace him and change his policies to make the kingdom better for every man.

One day in a sparring match (metal swords) that is getting rather vigourous the more evil of the two boys becomes frustrated at his lack of skill and becomes so angry that he disharges a small bolt of the trademark blue lightning! Simultaneously (as if he saw the bolt coming before it came) and out of fear the goodly apprentice instinctively and defensively collapses a statue to block the bolt.
After this the boy prone to the dark side has the other boy kidnapped and banished in a volcano rim away from the kingdom telling the King of his death by whatever means. The King soon dies. The evil son takes the throne.

The good son having not been killed by the raging volcano, finds refuge there and develops his ability to use the force. Feeling his hatred and resentment building he treks back to the castle to kill the now evil king. A huge battle ensues in which the good son loses and is nearly destroyed, betrayed by his hate and thoughts of vengeance. It's here that he learns he cannot out-evil the king and must find another way, a better way.
After the battle the king realizes his own need for an apprentice to carry on his legacy should he fall in another attempt made by the good son. Going against his father's wisdom and the wishes of the king's council, He chooses to take only one apprentice.

Now the good son has been busy recruiting like-minded individuals that are peace-loving, courageous and smart without minds clouded by villainy or greed. They all develop their skills with the force (though they don't know what that is or what to call it) along with a code to live by; one in which honor, integrity, peace and the good of the common man take precedence over all things. They wage the inevitable attack on the castle and are victorious. The king is killed but his new apprentice escapes discreetly. A new age falls over the land and things are better for all people.

<Cut to what we know as current time in the Star Wars universe>

Anakin has coldly killed the last of the strongest Jedi, save Yoda and Obi Wan, since becoming the apprentice of Darth Sidious. Having learned of it from a dying Mace Windu, he journeys to the volcano where the jedi creed was formed intending to destroy the last remnants of the jedi and their history. In the thousands of years that have passed the base of the volcano has become a 'hall of titans' contructed by the people of the planet in reverance of the jedi order. The jedi of course sought more humble lodgings on Coruscant and the volcano was sealed until the day Darth Vader plundered it.

The inevitable showdown between Obi Wan and Darth Vader happens here. It's the fiercest jedi/sith battle ever. Obi wan bests Darth Vader knocking him into the flaming lava which destroys most of his body. Thinking him dead Obi Wan leaves to rendezvous with Yoda where they will divide Luke and Leia and then go into hiding in this time of darkness.

Anakin is saved by Darth Sidious who watched the entire battle unfold. He allowed Vader to fall into that pit then rescued what was left and had him rebuilt assuring his allegiance for a lifetime, or so he thinks.
