We play a group of teenage friends who have just graduated high school and at a house party someone brings an old board game called Jumanji and convinces us to play. Over the course of the game, the mysterious gem in the center of the board begins to glow green and then we suddenly feel ourselves being pulled into the light.
We wake up in a magical jungle with dangerous monsters and deadly insects, and eventually find others that have been trapped there longer, though these poor souls have become corrupt and decrepit. We learn that Jumanji is an alternate plane of existence, and that when we were pulled there, demonic entities jumped back and took our place on Earth. Now, not only are we pushed to our limits to survive this enchanted jungle, but we have to contend with the fact that demons are walking around back on Earth wearing our faces, masquerading as us with our friends and families...
Fortunately, there are also benevolent spirits among the trees who are kind enough to lend us their sway over elements so that we may reclaim what we have lost. Essentially, each character would have a specific elemental power, and we would go on to be the guardians of Jumanji and cleanse it of the demonic taint. But our quest does not end there, for once a shady government agency learns of the power of the magical jungle, they shift into our new antagonists...
