PHOENIX — A judge has ruled that police in Arizona can immediately start enforcing the most contentious section of the state's immigration law, marking the first time officers can carry out a requirement that officers, while enforcing other laws, question the immigration status of those suspected of being in the country illegally.

The decision on Tuesday by U.S. District Judge Susan Bolton is the latest milestone in a two-year legal battle over the requirement. It culminated in a U.S. Supreme Court decision in June that upheld the provision on the grounds that it doesn't conflict with federal law.

Wow, those poor undocumented voters. :(

The fed doesn't need help, it needs backbone. Take some of those idiots in the Dept. of Ed. and move them over to the INS...put them on the border, they'll probably have enough from them to stand shoulder to shoulder along the US - Mexican border, thus keeping anyone from crossing.

Then the children will be left behind!

Hasn't Arizona suffered enough economically from this?

Maybe now the whole state will be shut down by a boycott.

Yeah, we suffer so much when we don't have to spend that extra billion every year on social services and health care.
On the other hand, Nevada won't suffer a boycott because of its enlightened approach to illegals. Why, Clark County (Las Vegas metro area) is so generous it spends $3 million a month on dialysis services for illegals. No chance of University Medical Center ever getting reimbursed.
Real good chance UMC will shut down, though.
