The small band of orcs was causing problems north of the little town of TreeRoot. In the beginning in it was mainly livestock, but the farmers were beginning to see them more as the orcs got braver. The farmers began to fear for their own lives. They started journeying in pairs or groups, no one wandered alone.
The townspeople sent word to the larger neighboring town which has a guild for adventurers. They are always handy for clearing out an orc nest and most will do it for a good meal and a word of thanks. Occasionally a wench will sacrifice a night to spend with one as a reward, the wenches never seem to complain about that sacrifice.
So it came to pass that two adventurers did finally arrive. The warrior was easy to spot as warriors always are. The other one, if you looked closer, one could almost see the magic emanating from him. He wore a heavy clock, which covered him completely. The dark green of the cloak almost allowing him to blend into the shadows as he walked.
Finally he pulled back the hood of his cloak and you could see his good looks. He had blonde hair and green eyes as he looked around. It was more than a casual glance, he was watching and looking for whatever might be out there.
"They say there are orcs, but I haven't even seen any sign of one." Course he knew they were also coming from the wrong side of town and the problem was further north. The talk was more to keep some kind of conversation going.
