Johnson & Johnson discontinued its legacy talc-based baby-powder products in the U.S. and Canada after thousands of suits alleging asbestos contamination led to a decline in sales.

The health-care giant said Tuesday it had stopped shipping hundreds of talc-based items in the U.S. and Canada after coming to a “commercial decision” to discontinue them. J&J will wind down sales in those markets over the coming months, said Kathleen Widmer, chairman of the company’s North America consumer unit. All existing inventory will continue to be sold through retailers until supplies run out, she said. J&J first began selling baby-powder products in the 1890s, according to a company blog.

I was changing my grandson's diaper recently and I routinely put "baby powder" on his rear end before I seal the deal.
You could buy this particular "baby powder" in the grocery aisle. It's pure corn starch - marked up about 200 percent.

My family had this plastic dispenser for corn starch that had been a promotional item for Argo. It held about a pound of product and dispensed with a squeeze like a baby powder bottle.

When I found myself with kids in my own I found that it was no longer available. I figured that somebody at Argo decided that they didn't want a food product that was their main sales driver to be associated in a branding sense with diaper changing.

I just did a search online to see if I could find any reference to that and could not.
