I recall the 1964 election. It reminds me the Obama-Mccain bout.

Johnson kicked Goldwater's ass using an anti-war platform. Johnson made his famous speech about Asian boys need to fight their own battles, then sent 500,000 American boys to Vietnam after the election.

America hated Johnson by 1968.

It's a good thing we didn't elect Goldwater. If we had we would have wound up bombing North Vietnam with B-52s before the next presidential election.
