I don't hold Cheney in contempt for releasing prisoners who then become (or return) terrorists. I hold Cheney in contempt for thinking it's ok for the US to take someone into custody and kill them.

Cutting a head off and freezing someone to death are equally disgusting (in my humble opinion). I know you disagree with that and believe the United States is the same as the terrorists and if they do it, we can do it too.

I do hold Obama in contempt for lying to us about closing Gitmo. He had the chance, and now he can't because of the current statutes. The 150 or so imprisoned there will be there for another 50 years or so (until the last one dies of old age).

With respect to the picture (which I'll take your word that it's accurate); had that guy been placed on trial he might have been convicted and imprisoned. Doesn't such argue in favor of holding trials?

To be clear (for the millionth time with you) - I have NO problem with EIT (like most Americans). I have a problem with the US holding people without charging and trying them. I have a problem with the US allowing a prisoner in our custody to freeze to death. It's asinine to say we can hold these prisoners until the end of the war; because the war will never end. There will always be someone that hates the US and thus be labeled a terrorist.

Our justice system is pretty good. If we are going to take people from the battlefield (whatever that means) and bring them to US soil, they have to be held as POWs or treated as criminal suspects.

There's no reason for not charging them and putting them on trial. We've done that with dozens of terrorists and even dictators over the years. We've charged and tried tens of thousands of murderers over the years. We look weak by being afraid to tell the world what we think these people did, and then proving it.
