The list is long but I must go with the movie in which he was an American in Russia teaching the locals about hip-cat culture. The man is a ham to the degree that Porky Pig is often jealous.

The real challenge is to name a performance of his that is not embarassingly awful.

Saturday Night Fever or Battlefield Earth

He was fantastic in Pulp Fiction... played it perfectly...

Good in Broken Arrow and Face/Off too.... Mediocre in Swordfish....

I think he just has this screen presence... you just have to keep your eyes on him when he's on screen

THANK YOU!

That movie was on a while back and I couldn't think of the name! Driving me nuts! And that one definitely wins!!!

*sob*

I can't believe y'all are dissin' Travolta. He's one of my alltime favorite actors. That's not to be confused with "alltime phenominal actors" but still, I've had a crush on him since "Urban Cowboy"

I refuse to re-vist this thread if you're gonna Travolta-bash

bastards.. all of you.

I've seen two movies that included John Travolta: Grease and Pulp Fiction. I wasn't appalled at either performance.

Lavender... so you are non-committal. What the fuck are yout alking aobut then?

Travolta played a dufus with some cool moves in Pulp Fiction... essentially the role he was born to play. A master stroke that was toutted as a comeback.

he's good...but this is just about his WORST...which are only a few..:p

Can anyone say "Domestic Disturbance"?

And how can anyone forget Battlefield Earth . . .

He's not a bad actor persay, but he could choose his movies a little better.
Pulp Fiction was cool. Still debating over Grease.

It does take even a little talent to play a doofus.... just loko at Matt LeBlanc in Friends.... to play a guy that dumb takes some doing.

I can not think of anyone better suited to play Vincent... And it was a comeback.... 'cos he hadnt done anything for years before it, and has done a heck of a lot of movies since.

sounds like a comeback to me

Mischka, have I told you lately how incredibly gorgeous and sensual you are lately?

*smootch*

Wanna experiment with a female for the first time together? I would be all thumbs, but maybe that's a good thing? heh

In Saturday Night Fever his character was a not-so-bright lower-middle class bluecollar Italian dufus who's life dream was to be the best dancer at the local disco and get chicks.

Did he not do an excellent job of playing that character?

(whether or not you thought the movie as a whole sucked is beside the point.)

Broken arrow. What a lame movie. I can't believe he did it.

His performance in "Saturday Night Fever" was right on target. Been there done that ... got the hickeys to show it.
"Staying Alive" now that performance sucked big time.

Battle Field Earth has to be his worst movie,at least in my IMHO. So bad you just have to watch it!:)
