(Ok folks, let's get this thing started)
The large, ominous looking watch tower orbited around the high atmosphere of Earth, it's eclipsed form twisted in some invisible wind. It's many windows, lights and cables flashed, quivered and surged in a perfect rythme, making it quite apparent why it had gained the name "Watchtower". Everything functioned like Clockwork, while still allowing a constant eye on the word below. The millions of employed human caretakers, each one on guard as if they themselves were super heros. The super heros themselves worked harder, but not as often.
Some were out on missions, other patrols, others training in their many skills through sparring, simulations, or training excercises. They didn't need to be at war, or under attack every minute of everyday, just...every OTHER day really. Sometimes they just had slow days, other times people flying to the watch tower from outerspace WEREN'T giant killer bugs trying to devour the entire human race.
Kyle Rayner, one of the green lantern core, a native of the third planet from the sun, was one of those non-killer-bug visitors. He had managed to convince the core to let him take a little vacation home to earth, see his folks, maybe catch up with the Justice League. He told the elders it'd be good for every lantern to take some time off and just relax, get the kinks of constant universe protection out of their systems, and come back relaxed and rejuvinated.
And luckily for him, they bought it. He was going to make a pitstop in the watch tower to let the League know he was here before stopping down below to visit his folks, and they had been expecting him.
