Ever have one of those days where you come up with a character that demands to be named a certain way, but you don't have a story to go with the name?
That's where I'm at.
I'd like to put together a character who knows he or she is a jinx of sorts -- someone with a lot of bad luck around them. I'm thinking that the character ought to be male, because having a female Jinx is cliche' (even James Bond did it once). I don't want the character to be jinxed because of a spell or curse -- that's been done as a movie, too. Something with Will Ferell in it, I think.
I'd like the character not to feel sorry for themselves -- or be one of those 'don't touch me, I'm bad luck' sorts. Also cliche!
The vague idea I have is that the character has turned his curse into a blessing of sorts -- he's a safety tester for some company, or a QA critter. Or something where having accidents isn't a problem. An abstract painter, for example.
I'm not sure what sort of scenario I want to put him into yet, but here's some ideas I have chasing around in my head:
-- A class action suit lawyer investigating the unusually high incident list
-- A psychic phenomena expert who wants to see if it's something he's doing to make stuff happen
-- An equally bad klutz (Accidents Attract)
-- Something else?
