Erotic is a string of words, hopefully in correct grammer, that makes someone picture sex and become aroused.
Desire is well what they said. Desire is a need to touch someone sexually, eat or drink something, or look at something.
Dictionaries are good to read if you don't know a word by the way.

They are not necessarily related. I desire many things that are not erotic.
Eroticism is not possible without a well developed context and some element of conflict. It could be something as simple as the conflict between an contrived image of reality and the reality itself.
Its the same in music...there has to be tension and release.
