Oh my God, now THAT I love. It's kind of a one-liner but it's lovely.

She's done some amazing work. Went to see her latest exhibition In hate we trust a few months ago. She addresses hate crimes against homosexuals and the silence that often surrounds them.

I was looking at that, a lot of them are art historical quotes from Carvaggio - whose work is very sensual but addressed the violence of baroque Italy, which was a complete bloodbath. It's very powerful work.

Thanks so much for getting me a little stoked about art again. Things are very formalist in the US and dull.

Glad you enjoyed it! It is powerful both visually and politically IMO.

I can only guess what an outrage her work would create in the US. Sweden is extremely secularised and still there were protests and sabotage and an extremely lively debate.

A lot of it from churches, but of course also the general homophobics.

At least that can be considered art, and has a statement other than, "Hey let's see how big a cock I can plaster onto this Jesus statue before it tips over!"

I don't agree with it, but I can atleast see the art in it.

I guess it could be used in the bathroom as a toilet paper roll dispenser, or if it's long enough...a paper towel dispenser in the kitchen. I mean, at least there would then be a reason for that um extension.

Now, you have to agree that this Terence Koh guy either needs to get laid, or he's seriously sick. And who in the fuck buys such crap as art, anyway? That's the offensive part, as far as I'm concerned.

And, yes, why didn't he have Mohammad with a boner, too? Was he worried that he'd then have all of Islam on his trail? I think he's just a chicken artist and isn't willing to stick his...um...to um...stick his ah....
He should offend all religion, if he's going to offend one. He should offend all cartoon characters, if he's going to offend one.

Maybe he personally feels more fucked-over by a particular religion. I think I get to be a little more critical, for example, of sexism in Judaism than someone who isn't coming from an insider perspective. I don't know about Koh, maybe he had tramatically Christian upbringing or something.
