Jesus Fucking Christ. Winston Smith Was Real.

I'm sure there was always book censorship at DOD schools and military academies. The military is not like civilian society.

That's the Naval Academy's loss.

Ryan Holiday has had a fascinating career. He wrote a gossipy best seller "Trust me, I'm Lying" about the rise of influencers and how blogs corrupt the news cycle....WAAAAAAY back in 2012.

He used the proceeds of his book to quit his job and follow his real passion: philosophy.

Philosophy? Yep.

Specifically the little understood philosophy of stoicism, and wrote another bestseller ("The Obstacle Is the Way") and then followed that one up with two books considered "essential reading" by any military special forces member: Courage Is Calling: Fortune Favors the Brave and Discipline Is Destiny: The Power of Self-Control.
Retired Navy Seal Jocko Wilink says Discipline book should be required reading for anyone considering a military career.

Pickled Pete Hegseth's Naval Academy political kommisars called Holiday at his hotel in Annapolis the morning of the scheduled lecture and "suggested" he not talk about Hegseth's recent book burning romp at the Naval Academy the previous week (Out: Maya Angelou Smith, Holocaust memoirs. In: Hitler!) Holiday said no thank you, I'm not changing my presentation and when they insisted he told them he wouldn't compromise his values for some political witch hunt.

The military has a vested interest in minimizing certain subjects in its libraries, starting with pacifism and civil disobedience, for the soldiers who can read.

When alcoholic former Fox News Weekend Anchor and current unqualified Secretary of Defense gave his "direct order" to purge books deemed "too librul" for tender midshipmen minds, he was asked what criteria should we use by his staff. His response spoke volumes of his intellectual heft:
"Just use the banned book list for K-12 public schools....if the subject matter was grade-inappropriate for them, it's not appropriate for a military academy as well."

Interestingly, Ryan Holiday's cancelled lecture featured quite a bit on retired Admiral James Stockdale (he was also Perot's VP pick back in the day). He read every single book in the Naval Academy about communism and specifically Mao Tse-Tung, not because he was a "commie" but because he knew he'd spend quite a bit of time in southeast Asis and wanted to know errything he could about his enemy's thought process.

That sort of knowledge is now banned thanks to Cadet Bonespurs and Pickled Pete.

This country is now like 1930s Germany and on a descent into madness. They ask how did it happen? Look around you. American Nazis are everywhere led by that fucking worthless kraut himself.
