I started playing around with this idea and ended up coming up with a different direction: During a USO show, a base is attacked by insurgents, and in the battle that ensues Jessica finds herself on her own. Terrified by the gunfire, she runs out into the desert night, running until she collapses from exhaustion. The next morning, she finds herself completely lost, and begins wandering the desert. At last she is discovered by a group of Iraqis. One of them speaks English, and she is relieved to learn that they are not insurgents. But they refuse to take her back to the base or to their village: to be discovered with the American pop-singer, now believed to have been kidnapped, will result in instant death. Terrified of facing the desert on her own, she bribes the Iraqis with sex, giving them strip-teases in return for their help. One of them in particular--the one who speaks English--she finds herself attracted to. Eventually, they become lovers. After a week of wandering the desert, the come to the Iraqis village. Jessica finds herself saddened at the thought of returning to her chaotic life as a pop-singer, and saddened further at the thought of leaving her new lover. Despite his fears for their safety, she stays with him, dying her hair and adopting arab clothes. Jessica is never heard from again.
