I realize how frustrating it is to only get a story in chapters, but with time constraints being what they are, it is the only way I can do it. I hope people enjoy this story. I will do my best to get chapters written as quickly as possible without sacrificing anything.

Solution

I write long stories as well (most of the time). I prefer chapters because I don't want someone sitting down to check out a story, then see 15-20 pages of reading ahead of them. The solution is to restrain yourself from releasing them until it's all completed. There are two big problems of releasing it, then waiting. First, you are making anyone who likes your story have to sit around and wait (then when you release the next chapter, they have to go back over the previous one to make sure they remember everything). Second, you are giving the audience feedback a chance to affect your story.

If you get negative comments about a character or the story line, you might bed to add or change things that you are working on. Even if you get negative comments, you shouldn't change what you're planning to write. The audience doesn't know where the story is going, so their comments should have more of an affect on future stories than the one in progress.

In the end, it's your story, so do what you want. Just try to be aware of the audience. I made a lot of people angry by taking a couple months between the chapters of my first story. I think I've made it up to most of them, but if there are still some who refused to read anything I write, I wouldn't be surprised.

I understand

I can completely understand what you mean, especially after people see chapter 2 which may post tomorrow. I will be sure to get chapter 3 finished, edited, and posted asap. You will see why if you read chapter 2. I was a bit leery about posting this here, but I've had a lot of people asking me to, so I decided to go ahead with it. There are a lot of nice people on this site, and if they want to read what I write, I am happy to let them. I make outlines of my stories and stick to them completely otherwise, it ceases being my story. Thank you for your insight, I agree completely.
