my first challenge (fingers crossed):

this is a poetry challenge where you must pick your favorite expression/colloquialism and then write a poem about it, in prose poem form.

du, du, du, Duhhhhh!!! (insert scary music here)

for instance: ‘nekkid as a jay bird –or- slap happy
both of these expressions would be great fodder for a prose poem.

i hear your little gears turning…
dare you try it?

At least there is nothing iambic about it....
I am as nekkid as a jaybird. I'm,
hell, slap happy. But not iambic, see?
Pentameter is not poetic. Nor
is it philosophy. Just meter, and
it's how you count it out: one, two, (cough) three.

that's funnier than socks on a chicken
or better yet
watching the guy who puts the socks on the chickens
talk about feathers flying
cocks calling
cock-a-doodle-doo
will come
like the wind blows
when?
nobody knows
which came first
the egg
or the chicken
or even why...?
they would want to wear socks <grin

the scene is set,it has all been planned
I can't wait to see the smile on his face
when he sees that I am alone in the dark
wearing nothing but a smile

yea!(my hands are clapping in happiness!)

so glad ya'll decided to participate in this wacky challenge.

AND i would never create a challenge that required counting
or any other difficult thing for that matter.(just so's ya know)
i just want you to have fun...

busier than a one legged man
in an ass kicking contest
he struggled to find a way
to please her again
the woman was insatiable and
that one leg was getting worn out!
How many times could she want
him to try her ass on for size?
Secretly pleased he stooped
to swoop upon her offered
prize like a man long deprived

(he started it!!!)

my writing has encountered too many
dead ends lately. darkness fell
leaving nothing but verbs
and adjectives to play my games.
sentences may be long, carry
and terry.

I hop scotch foot into mystic meadows
and sneak a peak. the earth still moves,
sun shines and darkness descends.
I am aware, all is not paved in gold.
one must walk the walk in order to talk
the talk
. cliche, overused and abused
but simply, true.

head on a limb, eyes to the sky.
I try to live, breathe and feel.
feel, the earth orbit, in each second
and the blinking of an eye. I know
I was here. I was loved, once
and I stand. I still stand. good or bad,
I am.

:rose:

quick as a wink he had her stripped
naked as a jaybird and flat on her back
rounded heels letting her fall against
a feathered nest of sumptuous delights.

the beast with two backs
reared its head and soon
she danced like a cat on a hot tin roof
hearts skipping beats
heels beating a tattoo on his ass.

waves crashed on the rocks
at the mercy of the tides, they float
anchorless. So much flotsam and jetsam
that the morning after the storm
the sun found them tossed up on the beach.

I could go on, but time's a-wastin' and it's the wise who make their money before the fools are out of bed.

hey ya'll! thanks for adding your poems here. : )

so... as another testiment to my complete lack of poetry knowledge i realized yesterday that what i meant to say was a 'prose poem'. -duh!

so anyway, do whatever you want... sorry for my confusing and incorrect wording on this challenge. i just wanted to see what other people would do with a prose poem.

gotta get back to educating myself...

thanks again, --j

I'm a few fries short of a happy meal
I'm a dandy in search of a dame
I'm a train in search of a station
I'm a picture just short of a frame

They tell me that silence is golden
but no man is an island it's true
Like her petunia life is unfoldin'
and I'm a sweet honey bee on the move

so send me an angel with flowers
thats as hot as a day in july
where her minutes would feel just like hours
and I could get enough love to get by
