(Toronto, Ontario) Grammy-winning singer-songwriter Janis Ian married her longtime partner Patricia Snyder Wednesday in Toronto.

Same-sex marriage became legal in Ontario earlier this summer.

Ian is best known for her Grammy-winning song "At Seventeen". She was born Janis Eddy Fink in New York City and wrote her first hit, "Society's Child," when she was 14. The controversial saga of interracial love hit No. 14 on the U.S. pop charts in 1967. She returned to the forefront in 1975 with a million-selling album and Grammy-winning single "At Seventeen."

Ian currently is working on a live CD set for release in October and a studio album for early 2004.

Snyder is a lawyer in Nashville where the couple reside._ The two have been together for 14 years.__

The ceremony, in the wedding chapel at Toronto city hall was attended by a few close friends.

Ian's publicist said there are no plans for a honeymoon, but on the singer's website Ian says she and Snyder will honeymoon in a Toronto hotel and take part in Torcon III, the annual Worldcon science fiction convention that begins in the city today.

"After 14 years, it's about time. I think the idea of spending my wedding week with a group of geeks masquerading as giant lobsters and Star Trek characters is perfectly in character with my life with Janis," quipped Snider.

That's wonderful to hear. Thank you for sharing that, Q.

I also wanna say...anyone who'd honeymoon at a sci fi convention is just So wonderful in my book.
