Jackson's Office

Hey, my own desk looks surprisingly similar to that

What works for me is taking a laundry basket and putting all the papers and everything in it. Then you have a clean space to work with. Dust and clean, then take the laundry basket and decide piece by piece what you're going to do with all the stuff.

Ok. So it's getting to be the end of the year and time to start cleaning up my rathole because I will have people here for Xmas. So where do I start? Any ideas?

At a bar.

* noddles* that works rather well. And reminds me I need to get my pile cleaned soon to before the inlaws come over next week for thanksgiving

Mine looked almost identical to yours too, until I got a wild hair last night, and cleaned and disinfected the damn thing.

I was wondering that... I guess she's still using smoke signals on the local net.

I'm so glad I'm going somewhere rather than hosting.

Well, wait. Considering that my mother-in-law hates me with a passion, I think I'd rather have to clean up the place and host my sister's entire dorm room than to attend the in-law thanksgiving dinner. The things I do for my husband.

Anyway, back on topic... good luck with the mess. Are those peanut m&m's?

Peanut Butter M&M's. I found them at Safeway the other day and have been devouring them ravinously. :p

Jenny: I used to have a desk exactly like yours. But it was too small to hold my vast amount of junk. So I moved it to my spare bedroom where it is the repository of a spare Monitor, books I plan to read someday when I get the time (they've been sitting there since 2001), program CD's for Windows 98 programs; diskettes that are infected with viruses (but that doesn't matter cause I don't have a diskette reader), notebooks from a history course I took in 1967, cables, cables, cables, various cards I removed from computers that are no longer in existence but I may need those cards sometime (if I can figure out what the fuck they are) and some other stuff that I don't know what it is but I can't get to it to see because a computer my son gave me is sitting in the way (the computer won't even boot because it has no operating system).

I bought a much bigger computer desk that is now fully populated with 21st century junk. It's a real neat one that has a built-in bulletin board that I put some notes and forms and letters and stuff up there when I first bought the desk about 5 or 6 years ago and have never looked at again.

At my wife's insistance, I made an entry onto my MS Outlook calendar to "Clean My Desk". Now every 15 minutes a fucking reminder to "Clean My Desk" comes up on my monitor to annoy the living shit out of me. It's been doing that for a week.

Sometime soon I intend to clean my desk.

First off you take your cigarettes into the kitchen and leave them on the counter. That way you smoke less because you have to get up and go get one. You also get some of that much needed exercise stuff. Why we need it I'm not sure but it does move the blood around in our bodies and makes us think better.

Second, you hand over the M&M's and no one will get hurt.

Well, the shortcuts are all nicely organized though the desktop 'wallpaper' could use some tweaking. And when you have company you'll be embarrassed by the small screen so just throw a sheet over the whole thing.

I have a huge solid Cherry desk---

Less is better
No clutter
I have only a few things on my desk
Everything has a place and is in it
If I don't need it I don't keep it
The desk drawers are organized

**Ok, I'll leave now

All joking aside this morning. The woman in the picture on my desktop in the firtst post is Linny's daughter. This girl and I have been close friends for years and been through a lot.

Last night while I was talking to Linny, her daughter collapsed with blood gushing from her ears and mouth. Appearantly she had a cerebrial anurysim. She was life flighted to Lubbock where she is on life support this morning with multiple transfusions being pumped into her for blood replacement.

Thirty-four years old and not much chance for her. I'm not doing well today. :crying:
