Take this with a grain-of-salt...Full story here.

Does this mean we now have to write tales of how this person's blood could have been there even though he wasn't really Jack the Ripper...because we writers want someone else to be Jack the Ripper....

;)

Sure, no problem. Jack was bi and he attacked both the woman of the shawl and Kosminski when they were having sex. Jack dispatched the woman but he an Kosminski had a good time of it--so much so that although Jack tried to do in Kosminski as well, he couldn't complete the job. Kosminski escaped with minor wounds and didn't report anything because he was horrified he'd enjoyed having sex with Jack. It drove him crazy eventually and he wound up in an insane asylum--but never revealed his dark secret.

I like it!

As someone once said, an author is simply a liar with typing skills, so just keep typing and lying. (G)

Isn't the Ripper identified on a regular basis? Seems every couple of years we have a new clue or theory, another expert, another BS story?

Personally I don't mind a little mystery, its fun to have some unsolved things out there.

But there are people who have to try to prove they know things that we don't and what we end up knowing is they are idiots.

Who cares at this point who the Ripper was? Can he be brought to trial and justice?

Another asshat looking for fifteen minutes.

Yeah, I have my doubts. Here's a skeptical take on the story that lists several problems with the evidence. Also seems weird that the Ripper murders stopped three years before Kosminski was committed to an asylum.

But nobody ever sold a book or a newspaper by saying "we still don't know for sure who the Ripper was". And I'm cynical enough to think the Daily Mail only really cares about violence against sex workers when it gives them a good juicy story or lets them demonise some other group.

Not like there aren't plenty of recent unsolved cases where IDing the killer might actually prevent another murder or give somebody some closure.

Yes, there's periodic Jack-on / Jack-off cycle. :D

But I digress. So many wonderful stories are based on Jack being a royal or aristo. But if he's a common Polack, then what? If he's thrown in the river, it's "ring around the Thames"? Where's the excitement in that?

The story does say the scarf was purchased at an auction, so it hasn't been sealed in an evidence locker or even in police custody. So, according to all the Perry Mason shows I saw as a teen, and the "Forensic Files" type shows my wife likes so much, the scarf would most certainly NOT be allowed into evidence in court. Anything could have happened to the scarf between now and then.

Heck, if the guy was a suspect, they might have shown him the scarf in hopes he would identify it or break down or something, if he had a nosebleed from the police gently bringing him in for questioning ....

There, I just made it possible to speculate on who was the REAL ripper. I still vote for the royal connection.

A thread can be added to the story to cover how the Pollack is really a royal--the spurned bastard son of one of the royal women, which explains why he cuts them up.
