Seriously, this is the way to do it. Disney, Mickey D's and a buncha others come down on you like a ton of lead. There was a nursery school 'round here that had some poorly rendered, but recognizable Disney characters painted on their building. Disney lawyers actually visited and threatened them with a lawsuit. Now they have poorly rendered Spongebob characters up there.
