When I'm not reading erotic fiction, I like to read mysteries by J.D. Robb. I always get a little BDSM vibe from her 2 main characters. Since Robb is a known pseudonym for Nora Roberts, who is an extremely prolific author, I wonder if she also writes erotica under a different nom de plume. Anybody know?

Interesting. I've read that entire series and didn't get that vibe. Funny how two people can read the same thing and come away with different perceptions. :D

According to Wiki - she's also written under the names Jill March and Sara Hardesty. Somehow, though - I don't think any of those books would be categorized as erotica.

I love JD Robb and Nora Roberts. I've never thought about it, but I can kinda see where you might find a D/s vibe in Eve and Roarke, considering how bossy he gets and how emotionally dependent on him she is. That said, if she write erotica it's well concealed.

Thanks for the replies. Yeah, I found the Jill March and Sara Hardesty names too - it doesn't appear that she actually uses them. I see Roarke as sexually dominant and Eve as submitting when she's in the mood. But maybe that's just the Roarke who lives in my imagination...

I dunno, Roarke can be pretty dominant otherwise. Like when she hasn't eaten or needs sleep. He's flat out drugged her when she needs sleep and he's held her down and poured food down her throat when she's not eating.

I think it's also that I find Robb, or Roberts, to be pretty kink friendly. I know a good writer does her research, but she works some kind of kink into many of the books in the series. I just wonder how much an author would do that if she didn't have some interest.

I think that Roarke is just very kinda... I want to say alpha but without the cheesy connotations. I love this series of books, one of my faves and although many of the stories have an edge of kink, I don't see it in the main characters- especially Eve. Dependant on him though she is, she's not always submissive in bed, actually is very rarely. I don't think she'd enjoy the vulnerability of BDSM, but, if anyone could change her mind about it, it would be Roarke ;) But then I don't think he'd need it.

I love me some JD Robb and I am by no means a romance fan. Roarke is my guilty pleasure.

I love the "In Death" series-but I would say that both Eve and Roarke are dominant in the sexual parts of their lives, but Roarke is dominant everywhere else, like making sure Eve eats, and sleeps right, ect.
