My boss was fired today. My position is in limbo right now and I could be out of a job by the end of the week. Things don't look good. I have six weeks to go before I'm eligible to look for another position within the company.

I realize that what has happened and what will happen is out of my control for the most part. I'm moving forward with my plan to enroll part-time at college again to gain some additional skills to use with the degree I already have.

I skipped weigh in tonight and went and had a really good salad and then walked around a couple of shops just to look at things to distract my mind.

As I sit here...I can feel the emotion welling up again. I just want a little stability for a little while. It seems that every time I get up on my feet something happens to knock them out from under me. I am trying to convince myself that I'm in charge of my destiny but I'm not doing very well.

hugs babe...i'm in the same place you are. I moved 200 miles for a solid job and then they let me go. So now I have no money, no job and only tenous contacts. But just remember...it can't really get worse...only better. Hugs and I'm rooting for you.

aww sweetie I'm feeling for ya. Hope everything works out OK. Sometimes we get an upheaval and when the dust settles we find out even though it was a rough time things have turned out better than before. Trust me I know of what I speak on this.

Smile and breath. It will all be ok.
Take Care and Lust Always,
Ezarc

I'll spare you the usual sentiments because I know they seldom help. I just want you to know I'm pulling for you. :rose:

I'm working on it. It felt like someone sat on my chest after the announcement. It was like a hundred little puzzle pieces over the past couple of months suddenly all fell together and then the feeling of dread washed over me.

I hate it when something like the boss getting fired happens. Now, one of the advantages of being left behind is that you have knowledge of what is going on. That is a good place to be. It helps you to train the replacement. If the boss's job just ends because your boss's position was eliminated, then most companies will wave the time period to apply for another job within the company and let you go in search.

You never know, you could end up in a better position either way. Take it as an opportunity!

Ovaries, sweetie, ovaries!

The position isn't going to be replaced for the time being and it might never be replaced. There is a whole lot of other information but I'm concerend about placing to much of it out in public view.

I just feel awful at the moment.

Say... you need a roommate and you know of a great job that I can have.

Sorry to hear the news, blue, I hope everything comes together quickly for you...

everything will be fine in the long run...just remember these four words..."it's just a job"

I know that can sound harsh when you are going through it, but take it from someone who has been through a lot of difficult times...you will get through this and everything will turn out ok, even if that means you have to find another job.

until then, sweet dreams and dream of large women!

I don't have to dream of large women...*looking down* I am one. Not as big as a house or condo mind you...but I certainly have curves.

I need an ear to listen.

dream of large women was a princess bride reference

don't you have anyone you can talk to and get some of this off your chest?

no close girlfriend or boyfriend or husband or family member or whomever?

No boyfriend.

No guy friends.

Girlfriends are all married and putting their babies down for bed about now.

Family members, nope.

The usual sentiments are pretty much a given here but also know that you are a very cool lady and I know that things will come right for you.:rose:

This probably won't help much at all....

But if you have a technical background - check out the SAIC website for jobs. They specialize in technical fields - especially those involving a security clearance. They're employee/privately owned and thus under most of the economic radar screens.....and they are VERY successful and stable.

you should be able to talk to a girlfriend tomorrow, right?

until then just find something to occupy yourself, a goofy comedy on tv or whatever helps to take your mind off things.

maybe exercise to work out some aggression? go for a walk, play with a pet, help an old lady cross the street?

hey, go see Signs, the new Mel Gibson movie, I guarantee you won't be thinking of work the entire two hours.

Actually, no. That is kind of why I hang out here. Someone to talk to if only through a computer monitor.

I haven't been real successful in this life in finding dependable friends. Other than the kind of friends who call when they need something from me.

you sound like me, you get one or two close friends and that is all you need

that's fine until you need to talk to someone and they are busy with life

I have only one close friend anymore, the rest moved or became assholes..and my friend is married with three kids, so whenever I get to talk or do something with him it is a nice surprise.

so, without saying more than you want to reveal, what type of job is this?

Take care dear, and good luck in the unknown. Life does have a tendency to just keep marching. Yours will too. :)

does this have anything to do with the problem you have been having at work. what happened to the person spreading lies about you?

Sorry PB

The rollercoaster ride never ends, does it? Just have faith that things will work out...we're thinking of you

once again, try www.monster.com to look for jobs if you so desire

It is related...the other person knew this was coming and the reason for the lies was to save their own ass...they did a good job of that.
