I'm not quite sure where to post this but all my stories are in "BDSM".

I checked tonight and I do keep a record so I know for sure.
The numbers do not lie and they say I've lost votes.

I have three stories that show an actual decrease in the number of votes.
I did not know that was possible.
I can understand a lower score.
But I cannot understand going from 18 votes down to 17 votes (for example).

Has anyone else experiences this?

Yes, but I've been told before that there is some recalculating that goes on by the software, and that sometimes votes will disappear.

Why do you assume anyone gives a fat rat's ass about your status as a sub? You remind me of a guy I interviewed for a job. In the middle of the interview he screeches, "And I'm not an alcoholic!"

Do you have a mental health clinic near where you live? I suggest you ask them for an assessment as soon as possible.

It has happened to us in the past, amongst other things....haven't posted any stories for a long time here though. You might find someone in Author's Hangout might have more of an idea about why it happens. :rose:

Spencer...

This topic is often discussed on the Author's Hangout forum. Literotica has "sweeps". This is because there are many trolls that will purposely 1 bomb stories. Lit knows this, so they sweep 1 bombs away, changing the votes. In time the numbers will reflect the actual score/votes/views of your story.

Another thing to remember, if you write in other categories, is that certain categories are guaranteed to get you some nasty feedback and one bombs. Loving Wives/Non-consent-Reluctance/Incest and yes, even BDSM categories will.

Give it some time and the votes should stabilize for the most part. :)

Hey, illiterate poser wannabe (that's YOU, JERMSBJISMSON) - if you had half a brain, you'd notice that the "information" about HB's "status as a sub" is a freakin' quote from another poster. Sheesh - take Cat's advice and get some help - soon! Then get a life, and stop wasting our board space!

To all of you who posted "serious" replies;

I thank you for your support.
It means a lot.

Especially To "HornyBabe1965" and "RedHairedandFriendly";
Thank You for the info.
I'm actually relieved to see that this is a deliberate board activity.

To "JamesBJohnson";
(My comments to you JBJ are known as 'hijacking my own thread'.)

Here's a thought for you sonny.
By proofing your own work before you submit it; you avoid embarrassments like this.

I do this but then then again I'm here to help and be helped...
And yes, I do care whether someone is a Sub, Dom or Switch.

As for the crack about the fellow in the job interview, I'll top you.
When I was younger I had an opening line I'd use to get a laugh.
"Hi, I'm Spencer. I fuck. How do you like me so far?"

This got more laughs than you might imagine.
It also got me chastised more than once.
I'd chastise you but others have beaten me to it...

And finally, to put this thread back on track:
To those of you who took the time to respond seriously;
Once again, I Thank You and I want you to know I feel somewhat relieved here.

Cheers, Spencer

Spencer,

You're welcome. Another thing to remember when looking at your votes. They will sweep away 5's also, not because they are being mean, but they are only being fair.

Some people will drop 5's simply because they know the writer. Another way they track the ratings/votes and such is by how long a reader remains on the page. I learned this through various writers on the AH. If a reader doesn't sit on the page and "read" it, the program that lit uses knows this and if they don't feel enough time was spent on the page, before a vote was launched, that vote too will be swept.

One writer in particular has many fans that will download his stories, read them at their leisure and then come back and vote. The problem with that is that Lit sees that as an unearned vote and sweeps it away.

There are various threads on the AH that cover this topic, simply because it is one that comes up quite often.

Good luck with your stories and though it can be frustrating, I agree, it is a good system even though it can be annoying at times.

Just wanted to comment that it's not always trolls, but sometimes the glitch that you can vote as many times from one computer as you'd like... so those clean ups on votes sometimes delete repeats.

I advise that you don't stress too much about it = ) I used to worry, but then I realized it's just Literotica! :nana:

In order to keep the voting more fair, Laurel and Manu run an automated script that scans the votes and compares votes to the ISPs they came from. This removes duplicate votes coming from the same person, whether they're good ones or bad ones. It helps your score if you're being 1-bombed, but it also eliminates what basically amounts to ballot stuffing on the contest entries. They generally run the scans at least once during the contests, and less often on the general story queues.

Thank you for the clarification
