I've just taken

what I consider a HUGE step in BDSM & my relationships with those outside the lifestyle. I'm not sure if 'outing' or 'coming out' are terms used outside the gay community, but I just e-mailed a person whom I consider to be the most open-minded member of my family, telling her of my journey of discovering who I really am by being a member of the BDSM community.

I've tried to explain to here (as best I could) the unique relationships within BDSM & the emphasis we place on RESPECT for each individual here. I can only hope I've done the BDSM community proud in how I 'outed' myself.

Thank you for allowing me to share this with you all.

Sometimes I'm a little unsure of the value of "coming out". One of my sisters knows (the only one I really discuss my sex life with), and she's like couldn't care less. Some of my friends know, but again it's sort of mildly interesting. Others in my circle of friends I wouldn't tell simply because we don't discuss sex. Well, if the topic came up I wouldn't hesitate to tell, but it's not something I feel compelled to race around telling everyone.

Anyway, I'm hoping you get some good feedback from your family!

Thanks, bunny. Thus far, no reaction one way or the other from the family member. If she doesn't react, that's fine. I'm not telling any others, though. As someone in Talk said (I think it was talk.), my so-called sex life is nobody's business but mine.
