1. In my last story, Bells, I wanted to give credit to Paul for editing it. I put said thank-you into the remarks but they don't show up. What should I have done, instead?

2. How the dickens do you put words in italics into your text so they show up on the story? I know, I know, italics are like spices in cooking, to be used with care and discretion. I only wanted two but can't figure out how to make them appear.

3. What does it take to get the voters to give you a red H? I get wonderful comments and emails about how good the story is but only an average of 4-4.2 points in score. Other bits get red H's without any plot at all? Is just the slurpy description that catches the fans? Am I aiming over people's heads.

Thanx for the help,

An answer

i believe to get an h you have to score 4.5 or better. When submitting your story you have to write in the notes section of the things you need to italisize. as for the other question I don't believe that I can help you.

Add the thank-you to the end of the story text if you want it to appear on the website. You can submit an edit with the thank-you appended by:

  • Start a new submission with the same title as the original, but with *EDITED* or something similar appended to the title.
  • Fill in the same category, a placeholder description, and some placeholder keywords
  • Upload/paste the new text with the thank-you
  • In the moderator notes section, it's a good idea to note the ID of the original story, and that you want to retain the votes, comments, views, title, description, and keywords from the original submission, changing only the text.
  • Submit, and it will come through the queue with the thank-you ( and any other text edits, in case you found some typos along the way or something ) in the normal submission lag time.

Italics can be insterted by putting the proper html tags around the words.
<i>italic text</i>

The same applies for bold <b></b>, if you have need for it. The other tags that I know work are <blockquote></blockquote> and <center></center>

No clue on how to get an H. The only reason I have so many is that I write mostly in low readership categories and have some fans that I've slowly built up.

You have to put them into the text of the story-- I usually write a note to the readers at the top. I add a couple of blank lines, an asterisk or two, another couple of blank lines, before I begin the text itself.

And yes, I get frustrated too-- I want to email back and say "why didn't you vote, then?" but you know-- that would be so impolite... ;)

Put all your thanks and acknowledgments at the start of your story after the title and before the story proper, or else at the end, depending on how thankful and acknowledgement-crazy you are. Put them in Italics.

Don't forget top thank the person whwo told you how to put up the acknowledgment either. It's customary to make a $20 donation to Dr. Mabeuse's PayPal account for each acknowledgment as well (known as "greasing the Doc"), so don't forget that part by any means!

Stories appearing on Literotica use HTML coding. Writing in a word-processing app like MSWord, you indicate italics by preceding the text you want to italicize with the letter 'I' in square brackets ([]) and ending with /I in square brackets, like this: [ I]Italics[/I], but without the space. When Lit translates your document into Lit format, it will change the enclosed text to italicised text.

Don't forget the traditional "Italianaization honorarium" sent to old Doc M's PayPal account. $5 per italicised word is about right.

Thanx for the help,

If you have an average score of 4.5 or over after accruing 25 votes or more, you automatically get a red 'H'.

Dr. Mabeuse's Literotica Services Inc. offers a slightly less prestigious 'pinkish-brownish' H for only $50, payable to his PayPal account. Allow a week to ten days for delivery. (For another $25 he'll make the 'H' blink on and off.)

Square brackets are for vB coding, as in the forums, and NOT HTML.

HTML is delemited by "angled brackets" or "left and right carets" depending on what you call these: <>

Thanx for the help,

Everyone that votes 5 is giving you a H, those that like your work but not quite worth a five, or those that dislike your work or think it only average believe you don't deserve a H.

Just a few points about why some may not think your story is worthy.

Run on sentences. Not very much character realisation. Little or no plot. Very correct usage of uncommon words. A plethora of characters (possibly unavoidable in group sex stories) alternate tagging (using other words instead of 'said') Slightly (grossly on my part) unbelievable situation (especially the relaxed way everyone shares the tantric aspects) and generally falling between the two stools of literary and pr0n without capturing 'erotica'.

I have many of the same problems.

For the red H, I believe you have to have a score average of 4.5 or better and at least 10 votes (instead of 25) - it works that way with poems.

Oooh! I've been doing it wrong!

Send me the money anyway! My heart was in the right place!
