I was watching this show about this couple who'd been married for 60 years and in that time the husband always pumped the gas for her.
*sigh*
Now I know I can pump my own gas but if my SO always made a point to do it for me that would not go unnoticed...

Damn...

I knew I was doing something wrong. This probably explains what went wrong in my 24 year marriage. I stopped pumping her gas...she stopped sleeping with me.

Well, I'll certainly know better next time.

Tis the little things that often go unoticed that are the most significant acts of all!

For my SO........ I'd move Heaven and Earth should she so desire it.

That, my dear, is what love is!

My parents will be married for 31 years this coming Aug.
14 and I know my dad still gets gas for my mom's car.......
sometimes I wonder if she knows how to do the self-serve
at the gas station if my dad weren't around?

My ex had her gas pumped for her and it didn't make a whit of difference.

My grandfather use to throw the gate to the pasture at my grandmother, often bruising her leg. I kid you not. She'd even weep sometimes and complain to me about it. But he'd had a stroke in 1960 which altered him permanently.

Why am I telling you this horrible little tale? Because they also celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary. Long, sucessful marriage are about more than just being sweet: they are hard work, and worthy goals.

All the little things add up, He makes my morning coffee for me and he doesn't even drink it. He always pumps my gas. He helps with the dishes after dinner. He changes the oil in my car and checks all those little pesky things that could go wrong. He calls me just to say he loves me. He says the same phrase to me each night just before we fall asleep. He always kisses my hand after we've made love, very gently as if it's fragile.

Little things are big things when you stop to think about them.

My grandparents have been married for 55 years. Their actual anniversary is sometime this week, but it's never celebrated because my mother will be 55 in October.

When we recently lost my uncle, i was simply amazed at how my grandparent reacted. It was so clear that they are in fact one. Seeing them holding hands brought tears to my eyes.
