that just puzzle the crap out of me. i got up this morning, showered, got dressed had breakfast and went to the music store. stayed there til around five and came home. Never noticed anything unusual at all. when i got home i took my shoes off and with the first step i took in my socks i felt something inside of the left one. something that i hadn't felt all day. something rather large and uncomfortable. i took the sock off and found a friggin' dried black eyed pea.

would someone please explain to me where the hell i got a black eyed pea inside my sock and why i didn't feel it all day. and before you ask me why i'm asking you... remember, you've got exactly as much chance of coming up with a good answer as i've got.

it's the little things.

what do you eat on new year's day for good luck?

they're the color of a navy bean though larger and have a black spot on them. thus, black eyed pea. they're good but i haven't cooked any for quite a while and so i'm still puzzled.

Now, I've seen it all!:)

I can't answer the "how", but I'm betting it was cushioned snuggly in a soft spot of your foot, maybe close to the toes, or maybe around your arch, and it met no resistance, so you weren't aware of it.

Glad you got such little things, you're quite lucky.:D

The pea got in the sock in the laundry room. It was in the fold of a pair of pants and dropped into the sock when the pants were folded. When you put the sock on you didn't feel it because you were distracted by the news you were listening to. As you stood up the pea settled into the spot right behind your toes and stayed put till you took your shoes off this evening.

Is there a prize??

even yankees deserve a bit of good luck each year so you can borrow a southern tradition from me if you like. search around and find some black eyed peas. they come canned or dried. cook 'em up and just have a bite or two and you'll have good luck all year. they're great with a slice of onion and a big old hunk of corn bread just drippin' with butter.

It lodged itself between your toes at Thanksgiving...

You should really shower more often...

trail, your answer feels right so i'm buying it. i was afraid that it might have been a re-incarnated enemy or something trying to catch me off guard and then take possession of my soul or something. i feel much better now.:D

hi intrigued...ready for christmas?

This year has sucked so bad, I could use a bit of good luck. I'll have to do that. Do you they even sell them up here?

(By the way, my mom always told me it was good luck to make sure your house was totally spotless for the new year...)

My mom told me i'd go blind too.......*reaches for white cane*

It's really good luck to make someone else's house spotless for the new year.

I'll volounteer my place if you need the extra luck.

I'm giving like that.

pretty, i'm thinking your mom was just trying to get you to clean your room when you were a kid.

PLS, YES they will sell black eyed peas where you live. Look in the dried bean section. They'll be there somewhere. My mom was even able to buy them when we lived in Ohio. We ALWAYS have to have them on New Years Day. I usually cook a ham or a ham steak (depending on how many people are around), and serve with thickly sliced tomatoes, black eyed peas and corn bread. I like to sprinkle the juice from a jar of hot peppers on my black eyed peas for a little extra flavoring.

This sounds like a test to me. A variation on the story of the princess and the pea. So when some luscious lady asks how your day was....tell her it was just fine 'cept for the damn black-eyed pea that kept you off-balance all damn day:D
