Personally, I really hope heaven does take them all away. I'm sick and tired of this and I'd really like to see 'em go and leave the planet to the rest of us. It'll be so much quieter and more rational without them.

We saw one of those billboards on our way to Charlotte NC the other day. A billboard advertising the NASCAR Sprint All-Star Race on May 21 at Charlotte Motor Speedway followed.

I was hoping for some want ads listing really cheap houses, cars, maybe some church property but damn!! There weren't any.

They did however, ask for donations. Why they still want money after May 21 is beyond me.

Well, that's pretty convent! Tease us with an end then don't tell us when so you can't be wrong? Bogus! I mean, I can barely pay attention to getting to events I know are going to happen, I don't think even god can expect me to be ready for something he's going to spring on me without warning.

There have always been people who believe in stuff like this, always have been and always will be.

All I can say is that it is lucky for these people that non of the major religions indicate that having intelligence is a requirement for getting into heaven LOL.

My Hebrew is about as good as my Greek. That is, not very good at all. Post something in Latin and I'll astound you all.

My father, who toiled as a middle then (lower) senior management type in a large Canadian financial institution, had all the benefits of a classic English public school education.

(In England, what is called a "public school" is what in America is called a "private school". And no, I can't explain it.)

The curriculum in his day was based on "the classics", including Latin. While some consider Latin a dead language, it is taught and lauded in some institutions of learning, including Abingdon School, which unremarkable happens to be in Arbingdon, Oxfordshire, England (formerly in Berkshire).

While dad was comfortably in conversational Latin, I was limited to reasonably accurate translations of Pliny, Cicero and Lucretius.

Caveat emptor...My dad, no longer being around to correct my occasional (okay...frequent) mistakes, I take no responsibility for any misadventures related to my mistranslations.
