Okay, so I know snow is probably not a big deal for some of you, but it's a rare event for us. We almost never get snow. The kids were so excited to see it, they were sticking their tongues out trying to catch the flakes.

It's been snowing for about half and hour and has already started accumulating. Originally, it wasn't supposed to start until after midnight and then was supposed to be snow mixed with sleet for tomorrow. Now they are just giving snow through the night and some snow mixed with rain later tomorrow.

The funny thing is... I can guarantee that school will be shut down tomorrow (and probably Friday too). It doesn't take much snow for that to happen here because we get it so seldomly.

Yea for snow day!

I'm from Baton Rouge and snow IS rare. Here in Seattle this winter, I've had 4 snow days. It's fun not going to work/school when no one else has to the first day, but after that kids get antsy since they know the schools will keep them into summer.

If you get more than a inch or two you'll have more snow than we've gotten up here this whole winter.

That's about what we're supposed to get.

There's a certain number of snow days built into the calendar, but I'm not sure how many... especially since they are rarely used anymore.

Now you've got me checking the forecast to see if it's heading this way. :D

Yep....... It's heading this way. 1-3 inches.

Here in Texas, even just a little ice closes down the whole damn city. We had a little snow, for one day, a couple of weeks ago, and that was the first time in a few years the little white flakes had come falling.

I've rarely lived anywhere that enjoyed regular snow, except for Milwaukee.

Now THAT's some serious snow.

Send them out to shovel the stuff tomorrow. Watch how fast their attitude changes. ;)

Snow isn't unusual here, but the "Charlie Brown" type, never fail to bring a smile. So pretty. We got blessed with that kind for a bit today... less than an inch... nearly perfect

We got a light dusting this morning and last night. Usually in New Mexico you need a snow-broom not a shovel.

only one day with a bit of snow so far this year. and just this year i gave my brother a sled for christmas. how mean, for there not to be snow. i have a right for snow.

LOL. They aren't quite big enough to handle a shovel. Besides, with school closing (which I'm sure it will), there won't be a need for the driveway to be shoveled.

Woo Hoo, you must be close to me because it's expected to start around midnight here. Probably no school tomorrow, if things go as forecast. :nana: I love snow. We haven't had much at all lately!

LOLOL

I grew up with snow and grew to hate it. Hence my move to souther Florida.

Now though, after I have lived here for six plus years, I would love to see it snow just to see the havoc it would wreak.

I like driving in two to three inches of Snow (but not to work, I take the day off to drive other places :D ). Trouble is, we have gotten less than an inch all year. Just a few dustings here and there.

In texas the weather can change fast, also you can drive to an area with different weather fast.

It was a few years back, where I lived, there was not lots of snow but an accumulation mixed with sleet and the cars were covered with a few inches of pretty white powder. Because of the sleet mixed in it was hard as "ice" by nightfall.

Emergency call from the coast, friend in trouble, instead of a soft bed I took off on a 200 mile drive to help.

Not much traffic when I started due to the ice and snow, and I can drive on the shit, I blew out of the cities and into the "country" quick. Barreling along with my radar detector and a heavy foot I got into warmer weather and when I stopped for gas and coffee it was prolly 50 degrees F there and hadn't even been cold enough to snow or sleet. When I came out of the store with my coffee other peoples pumping gas was standing around my car laffin at the snow and asking me where the hell I had come from. There was still lots behind the roof of the car.

Onward through the night, radar detector starts beepin. I was doing exactly the speed limit when I passed the state trooper but he lit me up with his christmas tree lights and pulled me over. There wasn't much of a shoulder on the road there and cars whizzin by, he asked me to step out and we went back btween our cars. I was wearing a light short jacket from my gas stop, and a short skirt that had lots of truckers hooting thier horns as they passed.

The state trooper was a pro, courteous and polite, impeccably dressed and explained that a car similar to mine with stolen plates had been involved in a robbery somewheres. He was talking on his radio to make sure other coppers would know my car had been cleared. I was cool.

A local yokel, deputy sheriff, passed by slowly, turned around and came back. He was a pot-bellied pig (so to speak) with a wrinkled shirt a coffee stains all over his tie, leering at my legs as he and the trooper moved away to converse. I heard the trooper say no assistance was needed, and then I got pissed when the trooper said no assistance was needed for a search. The trooper was seriously telling the deputy to butt out and move on.

Deputy Dogg couldn't resist I guess, and approached me asking what the white powder on my car was. I was gonna laff, but seen he was serious, so I said, being me and sayin the stupid shit I say when I get pissed "why don't you snort the shit to test it"

They had heated words and if the trooper hadn't been there I prolly would have been raped, shot, stabbed, and run over.

I did realize that fuckin with a pig (he wasn't a police officer) was extremely dangerous in the dead of night texas countryside.

The point was driven home when I noticed the trooper followed me to the county line before turning around and heading back.
