I started getting that feeling of needing a new dog since Molly passed and yesterday a friend calls and tells me about this dog that needed a home. So now we have a 3yr old Shepard, his name is Yukon. He's a big baby, afraid of the bunny and loves to lick faces.
He has some abandonment issues and doesn't like to be alone, so of course he's sitting right next to me. He just has to get used to not waking me up at 4am to go for a walk.:D

German shepard?

I have a friend who has one - ex police canine. Awesome dog.

Enjoy your big baby. :)

I am not a dog person, but congratulations on finding a new friend. I'm sure he will stay by your side for ever and ever.

Ya know what Molly needs is a companion. And if August continues biting me to show affection, I can ship him up there no problem.

He has abandonment issues too. I'm sure they would become best buddies.

And if Molly's licking you in the AM doesn't work...August loves to take flying leaps and pounce on you starting at 4:40 or 5:30 in the AM to let you know that you need to get up and feed him.

They would make a great team.

It's in the eyes. A good dog just loves you so much.

You still need to be the BOSS. Harden your heart and lock your door. When you open it, he'll be even more pleased to see you. Dogs need a pack leader who insists on being pack leader. Yes, it does hurt to be so much the BOSS when his love and respect is unconditional, but you have to be the boss to earn that respect: take no crap and insist on it happening YOUR way.

Dogs love you more - and take orders, obey your commands - if you do. It isn't about, "cruel to be kind" because you don't need to be cruel. You do need to be the boss to have a good dog. They respect that and value your love for them even more.

BTW, congrats on acquiring him: treated right he'll more than return everything you give him. He'll protect you and your property far more faithfully and effectively than any lock or bolt.

I'm sorry I missed this!

Congratulations on your wonderful baby boy - he's gorgeous.

He needs you so much, it seems - it's perfect.

Kisses and hugs to you and Yukon. I don't mind doggie drool - give him a smack on the lips for me.

:kiss::kiss::kiss:
