Oh yes it is indeed raining, pouring and pissing down. We've had 2.5 inches in the past two hours. It has been great, sitting out on the patio and watching/hearing the rain while feeling the air cool.
Then there was the fun and games. (You just knew there would be some didn't you?) I went out back to check the shed and see if the roof was leaking. It wasn't. As I was coming back from the shed I saw a 4x6 foot piece of plywood that had blown down from where I had leaned it against the trailer. I looked at the wood then looked around to see if anyone was watching. My friends across the street were on their patio and their kids were watching me walking around in the rain. I smiled to myself and thought what the hell.
The yard was flooded, a lot of standing water and the wood was floating on it. I took a nice short running start then jumped on the plywood. This caused the plywood to skim across the yard like a Boogey Board at the beach. (You have to be careful when you do this. You have to be behind the centerline of the wood otherwise the front tips down and digs in.) I made it almost all the way across the yard before the plywood stopped. That was fine, I could go back the other way now. This time when I jumped on the wood I skimmed all the way across the yard before stopping. (About 40 feet.)
The next thing I know I hear the bang of a screen door closing and here come the kids followed by their parents. The kids wanted to try it. I showed them how to do it and off they went while their parents watched from under a couple of large umbrellas. The kids and I were soaked but we had a blast.
