It's cool for cats

Okay, I have a dilemma. This is sort of like the one we all face when start looking for a job. In order to get a job you must have experience, yet in order to get experience you must first have a job. I am not looking for work, though. I am looking to meet people.

I have led a monastic life for the last few years. As a result, I am a bit rusty on meeting people. I am looking for places in the Houston area where I can meet people and even get close to them (maybe even reach out and touch them ). Is there anyone here who lives in the Houston area, or has lived in the Houston area, that would know of places that are "cool for cats" (or, a 30 something hetero male)?

I promise, if I get lucky, I will share all the details, but the names will be changed to protect the innocent.

You shoulda been here a month ago when we had a kickass fun party down in Houston.

Houston's a great place to meet people. And I'm assuming you honestly mean that you wanna meet people not that you're looking for easy girls who'll put out with a modicum of effort.

Get involved. Houston is *packed* with organizations. You like to cook? Cooking classes at Central Market are a great place to meet women. You belong to a church? Get involved in it. Ya Jewish? The JCC has tons of stuff going on all the time (oy! and have I got a girl for you! j/k). Join a gym. Join a darts league. Go bowling. Find the local chapter of NORML. Whatever floats your boat. Houston is *crawling* with singles.

The magic words in any of those groups are "Well, I'm new to the area and don't really know anyone yet..."

Chicks dig being helpful.

YES, I honestly want to meet people. All of the other stuff - deep grunting, heavy breathing, and moving furniture - can come later.

I had never thought about the Central Market. I had been doing stuff with LLU and was over at the JCC for a while. Nice setup.
