President Donald Trump issued a proclamation on Nov. 7 announcing “Anti-Communism Week,” which will commemorate the approximately 100 million victims who have lost their lives to communist political systems.

“This week, our Nation observes Anti-Communism Week, a solemn remembrance of the devastation caused by one of history’s most destructive ideologies,” the proclamation, issued on the National Day for the Victims of Communism, reads.

The order highlights the “devastation” of communist rule in countries around the world since its inception in Russia in 1917 by Vladimir Lenin following the Bolshevik Revolution. The collectivist ideology stems from “The Communist Manifesto,” written by Karl Marx and Friedrich Engels in 1848.

Common principles of communist rule include the destruction of family structures, the abolition of traditional societal morals, and the outlawing of religions and spiritual liberty.

John Engelman will be angry.
Anti communist week is now going to settle scores with the BBC.

I hope at long last a media org will defend one of these vexatious attempts at intimidation. It’s way overdue for them to stop kowtowing to the pos.

Socialism/communism gained appeal as capitalism lost appeal. Which sucks more can look like a pendulum swing. We probably won't have another swing to socialism, but the next swing back from capitalism could be into something else. Any type of economic system imagined in the past few centuries could get a moment on stage.

What we need is a program to help people succeed at life instead of one that gives them milk n cookies "for free," or the opposite one that forces them into financial servitude by requiring they buy every shiny object that comes along just so they can participate at the most basic social level.

The problem is the "for free" crowd is going to cry when they're cut off and the financially indentured are going to cry at the bland austerity they'll have to undergo.

Did we get all the communists or do we still own Intel?

What we need is socialism. That's what you're talking. This concept that people are buying every shiny object that comes along is propaganda you've bought hook line and sinker without even giving a second thought. The problem with the for free crowd is the exact same problem as everybody else. When their financial source dries up they are going to cry at the austerity that by definition makes a bad situation worse. I don't understand how after so many examples of how badly austerity works that anybody still believes in it.

You do know that socialism is based on promising the people "FREE STUFF" don't you?

You know the only people who think anybody thinks its "free" are Cosnervatives. the rest of us know its no more free than the Military. Something a great many of us think we overinvest in by the way. Or the courts, prisons, roads, etc etc. So yes. I'm 100% behind promising people 'free stuff'. Next stupid question you've asked at least once every few months for years and years?
