If certain words or phrases need to be italicized, do we need to identify each specific area, word for word or just in general state that there are locations that need to be italicized?

Put <i> </i> around them. Then cut and paste them into the submission window it will do it automatically.

The easiest way is to submit your text with HTML code - <i>text to be italicised</i>
