This dude on fox news just said that it was demeaning to young voters to think that they were just waiting around for P-Ditty and Bruce Springsteen and Eminem and other singers to tell them how to vote.

What a dummy.

Most of those musicians just said "vote" use your voice, show up. they didn't say who to vote for, although they might have supported or endorced a candidate.

Those old guys don't know nothin!

Young people are a lot more likely to listen to P-Ditty encouraging them to vote than some grandpa. It wasn't about condescending, but it was about apealing to young adults on there own level. Who else should MTV use to encourage getting out the vote? Geesh!

Looking back, I wish we had done more to direct strip club and porn site patrons which way to vote.

We supposed that once they thought about their decision for a second or two, the choice would be obvious.

Not a high probability assumption when dealing with a hardened male audience.

I'm not looking for a fight S-n-P, but Bruce's bent was very much the "vote for Kerry" tour. I'm not saying that it was wrong for the Boss to take sides either, but it was hardly a neutral get out the vote affair. As to the empty (headed) suit at Fox, he had his own axe to grind as well.

Oh I know that many celebs did endose candidates- and I don't find that particularly consesending either. In fact, when the Republicans find celebrities to endorse them (and they do) rarely do we hear- 'Shut up and Sing' from either Anne Coulter and her ilk, or for that matter from the other side. Why even the liberally biased media doesn't jump in and point out this obvious inconsistency. It's almost like no one even notices.

And still, in spite of Diddys and Shadys, not enough young people did eventually vote to turn the results around. Kerry was hoping for the youth voters, but it didn't happen.

Youth turnout was the biggest it's been in ages, if ever. But yes, it still wasn't enough. Though they were not all going to vote for Kerry, that's what the media seemed to expect.

Youth turnout may have numerically been the biggest it's been in ages, but so was the turnout for every other demographic and the "Youth Vote" was still only it's normal 17%.

Well I wasn't sure of the percentages, just volume. I stand corrected and once again dissapointed with my generation.

No more so than any other generation. The "youth" vote has never materialized in any generation.
