It Started With A Ride
Brian was back from his four year tour with the marines. He was now working in a mechanical shop across town using his skills learned from the motorpool in the military.
One morning on the way to work he was stuck behind the city’s 810 bus again waiting for the passengers to get on and off.One of them was a beautiful woman in a sundress.
At first he wasn’t sure but when she turned her head he knew. It was Abby. His heart skipped a beat and that old feeling returned. The memories came rushing back.No matter what he said her reply never changed. It’s not a good idea she said you're just not my type. He wondered what she was doing now and if she might view him differently after the marines.could he even stand it if she rejected him again? .
He followed the 810 almost every morning hoping to get another look at her .One morning it was pouring rain and there she was ..alone ,trying to hide fom the driving rain. He backed up and rolled down the window to yell across to her.” Abby, it’s me Brian. Can I give you a ride to work?”
Abby groaned as she missed the bus and was now going to have to wait for the next one. She was going to be late for work and for what seemed like the hundredth time, she told herself that she needed to start driving for work. The nice thing was that she was in IT so she was able to do everything remotely if she absolutely needed it, though they wanted her to go into the office. She was getting so tired of having to fix the computers of the people who have unplugged their monitors, broke their keyboard by eating or drinking over it or those who complain because the wireless mouse isn't working but they unplugged the receiver because they didn't know what it was for. Squeezing the bridge of her nose, she was about to call her work but then she heard a voice. "Brian? Oh! Brian, how are you doing?" She ran over quickly in the rain and slipped into the car. "You are a total life saver, Brian!"
